I Know Dean Supporters Hate Being Wooed... |
|
But DAMN can you imagine if they started supporting the OTHER viable outsider?
It would turn conventional wisdom on its head AGAIN, and BEST of all, would leave all the Woodruffs, O'Reillys, Hannitys, Greenfields, Matthews, Finemans, Scarboroughs, Noonans and everyone else to write off Dean and Clark in a speechless panic. GAWD that would be f'ing sweet.

2. I support Clark/Dean or Dean/Clark the general is a good |
|
guy and has a clear unbiased mind, a rarity in today's world, I could easily support Clark but the Dean machine is a diverse group of passionate people we won't give up until we have to. Then we intend to work as a group to effect change in the political system.

How about, after Saturday, we all throw our support behind the outsider with the most delegates? I think that sounds pretty reasonable.

6. The most earned delegates or the most superdelegates. . . |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 11:01 PM by wndycty
. . .
based upon my calculations here is the breakdown. Remember superdelegates are very likely to bail if a candidate bails:
Clark Iowa-0 New Hampshire-0 Arizona-22 Delaware-0 Missouri-0 New Mexico-8 North Dakota-5 Oklahoma-15 South Carolina-0 Total 50
Dean Iowa-7 New Hampshire-9 Arizona-3 Delaware-0 Missouri-0 New Mexico-4 North Dakota-0 Oklahoma-0 South Carolina-0 TOTAL-23

18. Total delegates is misleading. . . |
|
. . .because it does not speak to a candidates viability. Besides if Dean continues to lose you will see his number of total delegates decline as people will jump ship. Those delegates are not committed whereas earned delegates are committed until a candidate releases them.

26. they committed to Dean |
|
and that says something. How many committed toClark? Whatever the number, that also says something.
Sorry but I see Dean as a more viable candidate than Clark. There is nothing misleading about that.

7. That seems fair to me. |

Is it true that Dean raised $700K in one day, 9,886 contributors, for an average of $70 per person? Talk about grass roots support. Kerry and Edwards are funded mostly by $2,000+ contributors. http://www.opensecrets.org/presidential/donordems.asp?format=&sortby=2

700,000.00 In one day and that's not even our record. Wed did 815,000 back in June in a day. Dean supporters are completely aw some and 100% behind him. Our faith is unshakable! Unlike nothing I have ever seen before.

to stay in, even if he has to go back to riding around the country in a van. As a meet up host, I was curious the other night as to who was the second choice of most. I polled them, and there was almost unanimous support for Edwards. I doubt you'll get too many who like Clark, since he's so confused as to what his own policies are, and we are more worried that he's a Republican than most.
I've always said the jury was out on Edwards, as he's not been too soiled by decades in the Senate, like Gephardt and Kerry. Why do you think Gephardt is endorsing Kerry? He's been bought and paid for by the corporate interests that run the media. Why do you think the media has destroyed Dean. Because with Dean, "we the people" are the special interests.
I'm not even sure if I'm going to vote, as bad as that sounds. There probably won't be a Green Party candidate, and I'm so disgusted with the media's involvement, and with the Democratic population going along with this red-herring Kerry electability issue. If Dean doesn't survive in Wisconsin, and withdraws, I just don't know what I'm going to do. Many of the members of the meet up discussed going on in some capacity, but I just don't think I could lead a group to support Kerry. We'll see. I really fault Clark for being the first to steal all of Deans positions, and take many of his voters away, in doing so.

network you guys have created such a force that raise what 7000000 in a matter of hours you guys elevated a cannidate who was percieved to be too liberal (i thought he was too centrist ) from nothing to front runner despite corporate media and the party eliete you guys helped force the other cannidates to try to atleast attempt more liberal stances. You guys should keep the netwok intact and uses it as a grassroots progressive network to get things from organizing antiwar and pro civilliberties actions/letter writting campaigns to challengeing DLC party elites. There is a Green running by the way if someone like kerry gets the nod his name is David Cobb

22. David Broder called Clark one of the three establishment candidates today |
|
I'll look for the article online - I only saw it in my local paper. He said that Kerry, Edwards and Clark are the establishment candidates that have risen to the top.
If I wanted to transfer my vote to an outsider, I guess it would have to be Kucinich (even though he is a congressman).
Look, most Dean people I know are sad at the drop by Dean. We blame a lot of different things for this drop - including Dean himself - but our main concern is to beat Mr. Bush.
Right now, Kerry seems to have that momentum. I personally am going to support Dean until (if) he drops out of the race. Until that time, I'm not transferring. After that time, I'll see what the field looks like and make a decision.
Clark has won one state. He may win another on Tuesday. I'll keep an eye on him and see how he does next week, but I'm getting the feeling that it is close to time for us to back the one with the most momentum. Assuming Dean doesn't get it back, and Kerry continues to role, then I'm leaning Kerry.

23. Well, if Clark supporters chose to back Dean for the same reasons |
|
we'd end up with Dean as the nominee. I think Clark is a brilliant military man and would do a great job dealing with the mess in Iraq, but politically, that's really all the expereince he brings to the table that Dean doesn't have actual working experience with. Dean is solid on everything else. If Clark supporters would support Clark as VP or heading up the military and defense, I'm sure Dean would make that deal with Clark in exchange for the votes of Clark supporters. I do think that's the best option but I try to practice restraint when talking about it because I know it upsets some Clark supporters. As a Dean supporter I don't like it when others suggest that Dean throw his support behind someone else, so I don't expect that Clark supporters would like it either. I'd like to see Dean as president, Edwards as Attorney General, Clark as Secretary of Defense or something similar, and Graham as VP.
Something for Clark supporters to seriously think about...what is your guy's main appeal? Isn't it resolving the mess in Iraq and military/defense matters? The president doesn't deal with the hands on of those issues. They appoint someone to do that stuff. Whoever leads the military is going to do all the strategizing, planning and implementation. They will present a plan to the president who will either agree or disagree with the plan. If you want Clark to really have full influence and control over how we deal with Iraq, you want him to lead the military and defense rather than be president. If he were to become president he would have too much to do to be able to really focus on Iraq in the capacity you'd like to see.
