fear doesn't sell anymore ... what will?
Edited on Sun Aug-20-06 08:21 AM by welshTerrier2
Clinton came from a place called "Hope" ... bush has been all fear all the time ... the cartoon below does a good job showing that even republicans will soon "get it" ... fear is just not going to get the job done anymore ...

so, what's the next emotion to be sold like a product? could it be anger? is that what we saw in the Lamont campaign?

the cartoon at the link below seems to do a pretty could job showing that the "reign of terror" is over ... what will replace it and which party will define it?

4. Sure - just change WHAT is the latest fear. The latest is Gay marriage -
people confuse Homosexuality and pedophilia - so they are afraid that if gays are granted legal rights, they will be teaching their children in schools, etc. thus putting the children in danger from pedophiles. That is the new fear - add to that the hate that they already feel - eureka - the Republicans have struck gold.

ALso, the fear can alway be rotated - when the old fear wears our replace it with the new fear, etc etc.

5. Fear still sells
They'll just bump the threat level and people will go buy their supermarkets out of duct tape again. Bush is starting to replace "terrorist" with "fascist," which is awfully ironic.

7. I don't think Bushco*

can change course on this (or anything else). Probably just introduce more ugly variations on the ugly theme.

8. fear will sell
and Democrats will sell it along with Bush. it'll be a different 'brand' of fear however, the fear of things not changing.

whether or not it'll work remains to be seen.

9. 3000 people died on 9/11. Since then the deficit has gone out of sight
Edited on Sun Aug-20-06 10:59 AM by Mountainman
Billions are being spent on defense contractors. 2600 American military have died in Iraq, 10,000 are permanently disabled. We have lost our Constitutional rights. We now believe in preemptive war. America is the pariah of the world.

Yet nothing is done about education, health care, jobs, housing, environmental issues, alternative energy, the economy. I think that terror is all out of proportion. We are lulled into unconsciousness with terror alerts while we lose Social Security, clear air and water, all social safety nets and the radical right religious groups take over the government. Corporations make unheard of profits and we can't afford the products they sell yet we have no alternative to oil. Corruption in politics is rampant.

Terror terror terror, 9/11 9/11 9/11 24/7 is all they have left to play and yet we can't get anyone to listen to all the real problems facing them.
