Where Do The Dems Stand On Globalization/Privatization?
I realize there is a split within the Dem Party about these issues. But just generally, where do they stand?

How much of what the GOP has done toward the privatization of domestic and foreign resources, government agencies and policy would be UN-done by the Dems when/if they take office? Afterall, it was Clinton who helped NAFTA along (though that's not what this question is about). What about things like the IMF and trade policies? What about joining a world court and establishing global institutions of law? I'm concerned about how the Dems are visualizing the future of our country, it's government (which admittedly needs to adapt to a changing world) and global relationships. I want to know the big picture....to see the forest for the trees. What direction would they take us?

Also curious what their position would be on things that have been put in place by the GOP like:

* Patriot Act
* Privatization of the military
* The Bush Doctrine and Pre-emption http://www.twq.com/03spring/docs/03spring_heisbourg.pdf#search=%22bush%20doctrine%22
* Middle Eastern and other foreign policy
* De-regulation of various industries
* Emissions and Energy Policy such as the expansion of Nuclear Energy
* IRS privatization and other moves toward privatization of various government tasks
* Diminishing State's Rights
* Public Education vs. Private
* Etc.

I'm surprised I'm not more clear about where they stand on these things, aren't you?
Would the corporations that have gained so much influence within our government and parties like to see the whole thing dismembered and privatized?
Maybe THAT is the real question....

1. A lot of that is spelled out by the Constitution. So another question
would be how do they stand on supporting the Consitution

2. These are the key issues!
Someone has played so fast and loose with the idea that all government is bad that we are actually discussing seriously such ideas as privatizing the military, doing away with public education, etc. Personally, I blame the libertarian philosophy, which has never been shown to work in ANY scenario. Globalization is inevitable, but over the past few years, I changed my own views about it to the point that I think there is a powerful role for nationalism in US foreign policy to help forestall the theft of basic services by a multinational and mostly unregulated economy.

3. Yes but it seems all politicians have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy
when it comes to the broad global issues, and particularly globalization and privatization.
Probably because their corporate backers would prefer not to discuss their plans for empire
and corporate global governance.

4. Looks like "the party" supports it
A few individuals in the party may not.
