Ohio jobless rate hits 5.8%
Of course the real rate is probably much higher. Increases due to cuts in the automotive and related sectors. We should see this ripple throught the economy causing even more joblessness in the next several months.

The Ohio unemployment rate shot to 5.8 percent in July, as job seekers ventured into a labor market stumbling from mass layoffs in the auto industry.

The sharp rise, from 5.1 percent in June, leaves unemployment in Ohio a full percentage point higher than the national rate of 4.8 percent.

Echoing the jobless rate, Ohio's nonfarm wage and salary employment dropped by 5,000 in July, according to state figures.
