Wolf: "Are Democrats losing their Congressional polling advantage?"
Edited on Wed Aug-23-06 03:55 PM by flpoljunkie
A. Hell, no! The poll you are salivating about is an "outlier," and surely Governor Dean who is coming up on your show will clue you in to this fact.
The very latest poll gives the Democrats a 15 point advantage!

Check it out!

8. Gov. Dean mentioned the NYT poll, but did not give the point spread--15!
He made the point that it was early, and the polls really did not matter now. Of course, The Cook Report is predicting an extra large wave for the Democrats in November--provided there is no big event prior to the election!

Whatever will the Rethugs try on the eve of the mid-term election? Their ploy now seems to be really negative campaigning, including push polling. They have neither honor, dignity, or integrity.

9. It doesn't matter.
The districts are too gerrymandered for national trends to make a huge difference. One more reminder about why people should be concerned with state legislative races as well as the big Congressional ones. Local politics matters and its all connected.

10. It does matter if the Dems can make the election national and not local.

12. When most Congressional districts are 60% or more for one party
No, it doesn't matter. National trends don't swing that big unless something catastrophic happens. There are 12 races nationally at the very most that can go either way. People working for long shot Congressional candidates would be better off working for a more local state house or senate candidate who can help draw better Congressional district boundaries in 2010. That's the only thing that will win us back Congress with more than a 1 or 2 seat majority.

13. We will see whether the Democratic wave develops in November. That
said, we obviously must work to make redistricting less partisan.
