Rockey Vaccarella: repug shill?
Dumbya** gave Rockey a tie clip and some other oval office gimmee stuff souvenirs today and he just couldn't fawn over our commander-in-thief enough.
All over CNN.

I barfed.
:puke:

KATRINA SURVIVOR TOWING HIS FEMA TRAILER TO WASHINTON D.C.
TO INVITE PRESIDENT BUSH TO DINNER.

NEW ORLEANS, LA - AUGUST 3, 2006 - St. Bernard Parish resident and Hurricane Katrina survivor Rockey Vaccarella is towing his honorary FEMA trailer to Washington D.C. on August 18, 2006 in hopes of having dinner with President Bush. Rockey is a true survivor who rode out Hurricane Katrina on his roof by holding on to a rope for four hours in one of the most devastated areas of the New Orleans region. He eventually swam to safety then got in a boat to help rescue others. Now Rockey is on a mission to find people like himself who've lost everything but want to go home. People that want to rebuild and refuse to give up. His mission will take him all the way to the White House where he will deliver a simple yet powerful message:

"We want to thank President Bush and the American people for everything they have done so far for south Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region but, to remind everyone that the job is not complete and to please do whatever is possible to help clean-up and re-build so our people can return home."

Rockey's journey will start in St. Bernard Parish, LA and end at the White House where an authentic Louisiana chef will prepare a good old fashioned Cajun dinner for President Bush. To make the occasion even more memorable, the dinner will take place inside Rockey's trailer where he will personally deliver his message to the President on behalf of the people who have lost so much. Rockey will also tell the President about an amazing idea to bring 1 million people to South Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region to help in the recovery effort.

If you think this is an impossible dream, think again. Rockey's caravan will depart the St. Bernard Civic Center in Chalmette, Louisiana on August 18, 2006 at 9am sharp and will arrive in Washington D.C. on August 21st. Dinner with the President is planned for the evening of August 22nd. The journey to Washington will take the caravan through the cities of New Orleans, Bay St. Louis, Mobile, Montgomery, Atlanta, Columbia, Raleigh, and Richmond. The caravan will stop in each city for Rockey to meet the people, press and government officials. By the time Rockey arrives in the nation's capitol people from coast to coast will hear his message and support his mission to help rebuild his homeland.

1. CNN / MSNBC gave this clown full coverage
What a shame!
Instead of giving a voice to the hundreds of thousands who lost EVERYTHING in Katrina, CNN and MSNBC give full coverage to this P.O.S. Bush supporter, who in spite of all the mismanagement of the crisis, he is still going to DC to "personally thank Bush" for his response to the crisis.

Enough to make you puke!

:puke:

Who is funding this clown? Which swiftboating operation is financing this guy's little photo op?

He made me absolutely sick to my stomach.....I like the part how
the White House said it had no idea of this idiot's "Republicanism" after they invited him. :spray:

Yea, right.

You mean to tell me that during his background check, nobody checked his registration to see if he was a republican or democrat?

OF COURSE THEY DID

They would want to know if he's a democrat so they'd be able to say, "See.....even a democrat is happy with our post-Katrina response!"

When does the lying stop?

6. And we were assured by CNN that The White House had NO idea
Edited on Wed Aug-23-06 06:26 PM by ShortnFiery
that ole' Rockey was a registered Republican.

They are shameless - both the Whorish M$M and the posturing a**holes who do PR for Dear Leader.

Rockey? IMO Three words CAN explain this (die hard Republicans despite most barely having a pot to piss in, love authority / sports figures, etc.) if you've lived in the New Orleans area any length of time ... now I'm prefacing these words as admittedly *stereotyping* (there are some very notable exceptions) BUT here ya go = Saint Bernard Parish. :eyes:  :yoiks:

7. Funny you should ask
Will Bunch of Attytood nailed him:

http://www.attytood.com/archives/003647.html

In fact, we had a hunch -- that maybe, just maybe, Rockey Vaccarella had a background himself in GOP politics.

And, whaddya know? Turns out that the earthy Vaccarella -- a highly successful businessman in the fast-food industry -- is indeed a Republican pol, having run unsuccessfully under the GOP banner for a seat on the St. Bernard Parish commission back in 1999. We don't have a good link, but here (via Nexis) is part of his bio that ran in the New Orleans Times-Picayune on Oct. 15, 1999:

ROCKEY VACCARELLA
PERSONAL
Republican
35. Born in New Orleans. Grew up in Arabi and Chalmette. Lived 11 years in
Meraux.
Married, two children.
Graduated from Chalmette High, 1982. Attended St. Bernard Community
College.
Director of operations, Lundy Enterprises, as manager of 31 Pizza Hut
restaurants and 450 employees. Former general restaurant manager of Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits on East Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.

And in fact, Vaccarella seemed very confident that he would be meeting with Bush when he left home, to the point where he had a date scheduled and everything:

Dinner with the President is planned for the evening of August 22nd.

* * *

Now, George can't break away five minutes of his valuable time to explain to Cindy Sheehan what the "noble cause" allegedly was that her son gave his life for. But Rockey Vaccarella? Hell, come on in, boy! Where ya been? How ya doin'? How's the wife and kids? Hey, has it been almost exactly one year ago that you were flooded out of your house by Hurricane Katrina? Where does the time go?
Nothing in this post is intended to annoy anyone.

9. What was most obnoxious if not surreal was Dear Leader's advisers
sitting on lawn chairs outside of ole' Rockey's trailer being taught how to suck the heads of crawfish. Oh the horror! These ELITIST bastards wouldn't give the average Working Class St. Bernard resident the time of day, much less spend time ... actually having a conversation with those (US) "little people."

It really saddens me that an acquaintance of mine who barely makes ends meet has a framed picture of Dear Leader on her fire place mantle. What is the draw? It must be a feeling of warmth some people get when they think "authority figures" actually give a sh*t about the populace.

Sometimes I wish that I was as clueless as the Bush-Bots because one never has to entertain "complexity" when you figuratively live ONLY to please "Your Daddy!" :puke:

11. Great find! You might want to consider putting this info into it's own....
thread since it sheds light on what is apparently a purely political PR stunt pulled over by a neo-CON BuSh* sycophant.

8. Rockey, you and GW take all the time you need chowing down in that little
mobile vehicle of his. You're both cut from the same cloth. Naive, easily impressionable, and completely stupid. The two of you speak each other's language. Too bad one of you is the "leader" of the so-called "free world."
