Guess what? YOU can initiate Articles of IMPEACHMENT.
Seems a Minnesota peace group has found a little-known clause in the Constitution that allows ordinary citizens to file articles of IMPEACHMENT themselves. (Thanks Thom Jefferson!!)

I've done it. You should too. Check out the DIY IMPEACHMENT Page, with step-by-step instructions, downloadable forms, etc.:

http://impeachforpeace.org/ImpeachNow.html

Visualize it. Then DO something to make it happen.

3. Send some now and some on October 12
Hold on to the other copy of the two letters until October 12th when we're having everyone send them in.

That's right — to make a big impact, we're having everyone send it in on the same date (Over 30,000 downloads so far). We hope to flood the Judiciary Committee and John Conyers office with sacks of mail and cause a newsworthy event to further pressure the Congress to act on the memorials. Although, it's important to keep in mind that in the 1826 precedent, impeachment resulted as a result of a single memorial. Yours might be the one.

Thanks for posting this. Impeach for Peace is a great group.

Or does each one have to be done individually?

10. Well, the beauty of this is that it may spur impeachment by an
individual act. If you want to gather sigs on a petition, MissionImpeachable has reprinted a list of resources compiled by Yours Truly and originally published on OpEd News http://www.opednews.com/articles/genera_kathlyn__060727_people_empowering_pe.htm

folks...... you really need to contact your state Legislators and State senators, tell them you want your state to do this under Jeffersons rules of the House. Statr by getting one state leg to sponsor the bill, that the big step.

It still has to go through the same process as any other Articles of Impeachment and go through the House. This will never get out of the Judiciary Committee. We need to take back the House first - otherwise it is (1) wasted time and money and (2) something else to hand to the Republicans to use against us.

Donate your time and money now to getting Democrats elected this year and then worry about Impeachment - later, when something can actually be done about it.

...donating your time and money to getting Democrats elected this year, and then we'll be ready to IMPEACH when something can actually be done about it.

(1) Hell, it only takes 30 minutes and a handful of postage stamps to do this. Wasted time and money? Please.

(2) Something else to hand the Cons to use against us? Unlike you, I refuse to let them intimidate me into not doing the right thing.

28. Guess what! YOU really CAN'T do this all by yourself
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 08:33 AM by onenote
Sorry to rain on your parade. You can write all the Memorials you want. But you need a member of Congress to present it to the House. That's what happened in the Peck case. And if you have a member of Congress who is willing to present a memorial from you or me, or anyone else, in order to commence an impeachment proceeding, why wouldn't that member have already initiated the proceeding on his or her own motion? There is no way you can force a member of Congress to present your "memorial".

Enough with the impeachment wet dreams. Focus on the real way we're going to regain control of the government: by electing Democrats this November.

...that you can "do this all by yourself." In fact, if you're responsible enough to click through to the link, you'll see that the people organizing this effort do an excellent job of explaining what we as citizens can and can't do, given the current realities in DC.

But thanks for keeping the thread kicked.

32. let's talk about resopnsibility
Is it "responsible" to call this a "do it yourself impeachment"? Is it responsible to suggest that the memorial process makes it possible "for Americans to do what our representatives have been unwilling to do."?

Is it responsible to suggest that the memorial process is a "vehicle" for a citizen to get an impeachment motion to the floor of the House without having to rely on a member of Congress?

The DIY Impeachment website does all those things, when in fact the memorial process is no more or less effective than any petition or letter writing campaign. Why build up something to be more than it is? Creating false hope and expectations is just a distraction. If folks want to go the memorial route, so be it. But let's not pretend its any different, or likely to be any more effective, than any other method that exists for communicating to John Conyers and others a desire for an impeachment process. And let's not pretend that any such process, if begun before the Democrats capture control of the House, simply results in the matter being referred to the Judiciary Committee, where it will disappear forever unless the Democrats take control of the House
