I wonder if redeployed Soldiers would support a Draft? |
|
Thousands of our kids are going back to Iraq for the second and third time while chickenhawks and young republicans continue to enjoy the liberties of the constitution they would like to destroy.
If I were one of those redeployables, I'd be contacting my congressman and pushing for a draft. If the "patriots" won't volunteer to support and defend the constitution then round them up.
I'd push for a selective draft, registered republicans and no age limit. limbaugh pack your fat ass and your duffel bag.

1. I know several current enlistees that don't want a draft - |
|
they have been taught (by the military) that when you have a draft you get a lot of trouble makers and people with low intelligence. They feel the military will be watered-down.
Don't ask me to defend the position - I am just repeating what they are repeating -propaganda used to bolster their egos.

Trouble Makers and those with low intelligence. That would be bush's base. The one's who are waving the flags but not toting the rifles.

3. That's one of the arguments in favor of the draft actually |
|
at least I think so. I don't want the military to be composed of only self-selected killers. If a standing army is a necessity and I agree that it is for now and any foreseeable future, then it should reflect the society it serves--which would include people who'd rather be doing ANYTHING else. It would include people who hate the idea of killing rather than fantasize about it, who hate the arbitrary power of their gov't rather than worship authority and people who have better prospects in life than carrying a gun for college money. And in terms of practical consequences, a conscript army is less useful for fighting unnecessary agressive wars than a volunteer mercenary force, and involves a wider swathe of the population in the consequences of aggressive foreign policies, and that's the kind of brake on our runaway imperialism that this country needs.
