Joe says he and his Republican friends saved ANWR
Edited on Sun Aug-27-06 10:40 AM by Rose Siding
...I also reached out to likeminded Republicans and created a bipartisan alliance that defeated the oil industry and saved the Alaskan refuge (known as ANWR). I would never have been successful in doing that, and blocking the ANWR-drilling provision from ending up in last year's defense spending bill, if I did not have solid, mutually respectful personal relationships with my Republican colleagues.

Joe's sure hogging a lot of glory here. Was he really responsible for "blocking the ANWR-drilling provision" or did another Democratic Senator take point in the battle with Crybaby Stevens?

Take Sen. Ted Stevens' efforts to get Maria Cantwell out of the U.S. Senate. Sen. Cantwell, D-Washington, was the Democrats' point person on the ANWR fight last year and clearly got under Stevens' skin. When his ANWR move failed in December, he angrily pledged that he'd go to Cantwell's state and tell her constituents what she'd done. Now he's raising money for Mike McGavick, her Republican challenger. Last week, in Seattle, Stevens warned Cantwell's constituents that gas prices are climbing, which he cited as a reason to open ANWR.

In fact, here's another source that acknowledges the force behind blocking that legislation-

Remarks of Senator Joseph Lieberman in Opposition to Arctic Wildlife Refuge Drilling Provision in Defense Spending Bill

The U.S. Capitol, Washington, D.C.

First let me thank Maria Cantwell for her steadfast and principled leadership in this fight.......

Republicans were SHAMED and constricted by PUBLIC OPINION on ANWR more than by any pretense of bipartisanship or comity.

1. Joe sure seems to have a problem with reality
I wonder why that is?

And why isn't Senator Crybaby from Alaska targeting Joe for "stopping" the rape of ANWR?

I'd say e-mail this to the Lamont campaign, but those guys are probably already on top of it.
