Rhode Island.
There are more electoral votes in Kansas than there are residents of Rhode Island. My guess is, it is just hard to take the outcome that seriously, all things considered.

3. Senate Seats Are A Big Deal, Period |
|
Each one carries the same weight regardless of the population. CT isn't a big state either.

I wasn't thinking "Senate." Just "small."

2. A lot of DUers are tuned to Chafee/Laffey. It's going to be an |

interesting primary there.
Lots of Democrats in Rhode Island. It just feels like a Democratic pick-up in November to me. I hope so, anyway.

4. Yeah, But The CT Dem Primary Was A Big MSM Story |
|
Because the incumbent was being challenged which is rare. Why is it a story when this happens to Dems and not a story when it happens to Repubs? It's just as rare and it's essentially the same story but from the other side?

6. True -- the MSM licked the Lieberman story off the floor. |

Chafee, like his old man, just doesn't have much of an ego. Enough to be a politician but not enough to behave like a whiney crybaby like Lieberman.
If Laffey defeats Lincoln in that RI primary, I think Sheldon Whitehouse is that state's next senator, and maybe even against Chafee. I'm hopeful.

8. Yeah, It's A Great Chance For A Pick-Up! |

And the Repubs are throwing TONS of support to Chafee to try and save the seat, which is great because they are taking resources away from a lot of other races to do so.
But it's stuff like this that really brings the media bias to light. The media really made the CT primary a BIG story, playing up the "divisions" w/in the Dem party and how the "extremist anti-war" elements of the party were "purging" Lieberman. How about those divisions w/in the Repub party that are highlighted by this race? Aren't THEIR extremists trying to "purge" the moderate Chafee from the party? The GOP seems to think this is a VERY important race. *chirp* *chirp*

7. Well, it's big news to the RI voters. |
|
I listened to part of the Chafee/Laffey debate yesterday on C-SPAN radio. It was pretty even, all things considered. If Chafee is in primary trouble it won't matter if the M$M thinks it's important now. If he loses to Laffey, it will become big news.
Of course, a Laffey primary win will mean that Dem Whitehouse will have the race for the Senate pretty much sewn up.

It's just an interesting disconnect regarding the media coverage that highlight the media's anti-Dem bias.

Lieberman was an incumbent who was challenged and lost!
I also think perhaps the CT race is seen as a judgment, unofficial "poll" on Bush and his policies.
