Bob Novak outs a journalistic source ( Armitage), in verse |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 08:56 PM by McCamy Taylor
It started this weekend and it is picking up speed fast. Bob Novak has DEMANDED that his source stand up and take it like a man, i.e that he out himself, something that no journalist ever does--unless that journalist has been told by Karl Rove that the WH is now going to try to Pin the Plame on Powell.
If you watched Hardball, you saw Cindy Sheehan basher Nora O'Donell try to get someone to say that Scooter Libby was no longer in jeopardy now that Armitage has been fingered is a source. Finally, some guy named Tony from the WaPo jumped and said that it looked bad for Powell and Nora looked SO HAPPY!!! Never mind that Scooter is on trial for obstruction of justice and other stuff unrelated to who told whom what.
Anyway, this is gonna get ugly, but not as ugly as it should get for Novak, who has just broken the final rule for journalists. Once a tool, always a tool.
Novak, Novak, slinking low
In the pits of Hell below
What kind of journalist is he
Who tells his source "Out with thee!"?
In what hurricane did he stand?
What starving child did he lend a hand?
What mighty mind was his mentor?
Of what great debate was he the center?
When the White House spread oily lies
And slandered Powell with harpy cries,
Were you proud to trade your journalist's creed
For a minion's place in the Court of Greed?
Novak, Novak slinking low
In the pits of Hell below,
What kind of journalist are you
That outs a source on Karl Rove's cue?

Armitage faxed a document that identified Valerie Plame as a NOC to Powell while he was with the Prez, Condi, Fleischer, Bartlett et al. on the junket to Africa. That was just after Novak's column appeared. At one time, speculation was high that the outing was ordered from the plane, where everybody got a peek at the document, and that the Prez ordered it. Scooter and Karl were home in DC, and there was a flurry of calls to them from the plane.
Soooo, if the deal is pinned on Armitage, it could implicate Powell.

4. The side story about O'Donnell makes me convinced that the salary |
|
of people like O'Donnell comes partly from GE/NBC and partly from the Cheney slush fund. If yes, doesn't it seem as thought they get bonuses when a measure of conviction is attained and the time spent is sustained? Quality and quantity? It wouldn't be that difficult to come up with a scale. Ka-ching. Ka-ching.
That was a fun poem! Thanks
