He's not going to tell this story, so I will -- just cause you might enjoy it.
"Stinky Jr.," his girlfriend (fiancee, we keep hoping), and two buddies came over for Stinky's famous home-made grilled pizza last night. "SJ" likes to bring his friends over (he considers his Dad and me "cool," which is nice) and sometimes tells us when he's had political arguments with friends. "Man, Dad -- I wanna have Brian over for dinner at your house so you can talk about that," he'll say.
Last night's friends weren't rightwingers necessarily, just not really aware. (All of voting age, though.) Somehow the topic of racism came up, and Stinky asked, "Do you guys know about the 'macaca' remark?"
"No's" all around.
"WELL!..." Stinky, standing by the grill with his captive audience seated, began with the story of George Felix Allen, the CA cowboy -- complete with impersonations and colorful phrases (his usual way of speaking, which the young'uns find hilarious).
He went on to describe Jim Webb, and the larger battle in VA, its importance for Allen's future aspirations, etc...
Then he described in great detail what opposition video is, who Siddharth is (born in Fairfax VA) and what he was doing, and the complete context and quotes of Allen's "macaca" remarks. He went on to recite the various excuses, along a time-line, given by Allen and his lackeys, and explained to his rapt audience the significance of French Tunisia.
He finished with the anecdote of Allen's finally calling Siddharth to apologize, with the final flourish the last gasp of a spokesman trying to claim, still, that Allen did nothing wrong.
When Stinky finished his performance, the Young'uns LITERALLY applauded!!
As they left, I heard one say to another, "Wow, now I feel like I've gotten caught up on some current events!"
(They need to come back... There is SO much more they need to know! In fact, maybe Stinky's "pizza and politics" should become a weekly event!! Just so I don't have to do the dishes...)
The point isn't just to tell this one story, but rather to say -- there are audiences out there... And many "Young'uns" really are interested!!
