Blackwell campaign to file elections complaint
Associated Press
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The campaign for Republican Ken Blackwell said Tuesday it will file an elections complaint against his Democratic opponent, Ted Strickland, over his latest ad in the intensifying governor's race.
Blackwell spokesman Carlo LoParo said the ad for Strickland, a congressman from eastern Ohio, incorrectly portrays the costs to average Ohioans of Blackwell's "Buckeye Health Plan" proposal.
LoParo said the complaint would be filed with the Ohio Elections Commission on Wednesday and would allege that the cost information was improperly obtained from an Internet site without permission.
Strickland spokesman Keith Dailey stood by the figure used in the ad. The Blackwell campaign is using the complaint to distract from the ad's message that its health care plan would impose what is effectively a tax on health care.
