"I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY" |
|
That is what bush told Katrina survivors today. A novel idea that a president would take responsibility for something the federal government had a big part in being responsible for. But now what?
I harken back to 93. I had a young Sailor working for me. A proficient, hardworking young man who unfortunately had no concept of financial management. One weekend he wrote 3 insufficient funds checks to people who did not appreciate it (not his first financial misstep.) He lost a stripe, lost a big chunk of his paycheck and lost his naval career. He looked sharp in his Dress Blues at his Captain's Mast when the old man threw the book at him. He crisply saluted the Commanding Officer when dismissed and wiped the tears from his eyes when he exited the ready room knowing that his time in uniform was just about up. He took "full responsibiity" for a wrong done to others and he was justly punished relative to the tenants of the UCMJ.
In bush's world there is no just punishment. And a republican taking responsibility for anything is totally meaningless and most likely stated for political reasons. I hope my Young Sailor is doing well.

...you are just saying words. You don't take responsibility for anything, Little Monkey. You are as useless as the smelly farts that come out of your Little Monkey ass.

Me, just to help out, I figure... I'll take responsibility for... hmmm... okay, okay, IRAQ was caused because I failed to do something or other, so "I take full responsibility for it**".
Okay, that's better. Problem solved. The harm is all undone, all the destruction and loss of life has been reversed. Also, as of this moment, America has begun to pursue the appropriate measures... right?
Hmmmm... Something seems to be wrong... nothing seems to have actually changed? What could it be? I know someone (who pretends to be President) who doesn't get it.
**not really; and besides, I should share the responsibility with others who were at least equally responsible...

12. Yep - and the next talking point will be vindictive democrats |
|
dwelling on the past, when Bush has already taken responsibility, corrected the problems (how not specified) and is diligently working on current issues.
What's sad is that even after 5 years the lapdog media will eat it up... I don't understand why media outlets that were tough and critical in Bush's first term become more sycophantic as the evidence of a screwed up administration piles deeper; it's not like they're easing up because he made progress...

6. Being responsible is becoming a lost art form |
|
No one wants to accept resposibility for their actions anymore. "business before pleasure" my dad told me. It took several years for me to understand what he meant. But i do now.

reaction or shall we say lack of action and leadership to Katrina and American victims..
He is worried about future Historians view of his Presidency.....technically folks we are living historians...citizens around the world are living historians....and we view the President of the United States the greatest failure in US history....
You have been judged.....a failure!

but since Gee Dub has taken the mantle, how about an executive order to free up those 10,000+ trailers stuck at the Hope, Ark. airport? You know, the airport that is going to spread gravel at the cost of over $4M to keep those trailers from sinking?
And while you are pretending to be all grown up, why in the world would you authorize the purchase of these trailers ($430M), when FEMA regulations prohibit manufactured homes to be temporarily placed in a flood plain?
How about you take over financial responsibility for your blunders?
Yeah, I know. Words are so much cheaper.

10. "Taking Responsibility" means more than just saying the words... |
|
and sometimes it's both unavoidable/obvious (who's to blame) and simply makes no difference (and therefore means nothing)(especially when it's a lie).

11. What were his exact words? |
|
I remember last year he said "I take responsibility," but added the disclaimer, "to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right."

if you then prove yourself capable of demonstrating that you understand how this action differs from effecting accountability. How long was Brown still collecting a fucking paycheck after Katrina? Is that still happening for him? Is Bush still on the government dole? The members of his administration? 'Kay then. BOSSHOG called it: meaningless.
