"We're losing" in Iraq - Max Boot. Stick a fork in Bush.
"We're losing" in Iraq, said Max Boot, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations who supported the war. "The country is sliding into civil war, and the president doesn't seem to be doing very much about it. That has tremendous negative repercussions throughout the region and indeed the world, because it's really a black eye for the United States and a blow to democracy advocates around the region."

Max Boot is one of the true believer neocons. He is often dragged out to defend Iraq policy. Now it looks as if he is jumping ship on Bush. The WH can't be happy about this. They can hardly nail Max Boot as an America (Bush) hater.

2. And yet...
...when the next war looms (Iran!) hawks like Boot will gladly click their heels together in a smart salute and verbally march off to the next blood sport.

Their next rallying cry: "No more Mr. Nice Guy!"

3. Ruh roh Rorge
Max Boot wandering off the reservation? This is indeed bad news for the administration. Which is, of course, good news for the administration, because it means that now their message will be more streamlined than ever, with fewer voices telling us all how fabulous things are in Iraq and around the world, thanks to George W. Bush! The Republicans win again.

At least, that's the spin we'll get, guaranteed, from some corner of the GOP Asylum.
