I ask every DU'er to please say thank you to Keith Olbermann for Countdown's #1 story tonight, "Special Comment". It was a very eloquent presentation directed to, and about, Donald Rumsfeld's Nazi-like attack on those who question the sitting government.

Keith, we have your back, and you make us proud to be citizens when people of your courage speak up on national television and slam the government's actions. The hateful words used by the current Secretary of Defense, calling us intellectually & morally challenged, are an offense to democracy and the right to question one's government.

My Reply to Keith,

In 2003 I wrote a letter to President Bush asking him to fire Rumsfeld. Of course I received no reply. I did this because I had realized then that this man was not what we needed to lead us in the War on Iraq or any other war! He is a confused delusional old man who is lead by the Corporate Welfare freaks in our dear country who can only see the money in this War and not the tragedies. After all don't they all live in gated communities or on islands where they live in Never Never Lands? I think this is about right! They don't send their children like I have to War - I have sent 2 of my sons off - once to Iraq 1 and again in this current conflict. They know no tears or sleepless nights, no anguish and remorse when you attend a fellow comrades funerals. They should be required to attend one of these and then talk to the families!

As a caveat I wanted to let you know that in 1985 I was training as a Home Health Aid in Marion, Ohio, and the R.N. who was teaching us had worked directly with one of the major Dr's who had done research on the Aspartame/NutraSweet additive. She made us raise our hands and swear that we would tell anyone we came in contact with NOT to use this additive in any form because IT DOES CAUSE CANCER! I suppose with the knowledge you have you know that Heir Rumsfeld was the president of Searle that got Aspartame/NutraSweet certified with the FDA under the table and for this Rumsfeld received a $12 million bonus.

I watched the "special comment" on the internet last night, and was (pleasantly) surprised to hear the local (Denver) progressive station (on Jay Marvin's show) reply the 6+ minute piece in its entirety on my way to work this morning! Now, I'm not naive enough to think that the MSM will give it more exposure, but could this be gaining steam from liberal radio/internet/word-of-mouth?? Enough to become part of a wider discussion?
