(For non-haters) Howard Stern says Edwards is starting to look very good |
|
He said he's really getting sick of the right wing. The environment, the defecit, the separation of church and state being hurt.
He said the Janet Jackson incident pushed him over the edge with how the conservatives are freaking out over nothing and Michael Powel etc(he's always hated the FCC)
He said he didn't know anything about Edwards but he read a Rolling Stone article about him and he really thought he looked good.
Of course the anti-Stern responses to this will be inevitable, but as someone who listens to him daily he's been extremely fair when commenting on all the democrats. He's said Kerry always looked good. He stood up for Dean about the "scream" saying it was silly that people were making a big deal even though it was funny, and he's always said that Dean was smart and a good speaker even if he disagrees with him about the war.
The only candidates he doesn't like are Joe Lieberman and Al Sharpton. He really dislikes both of them.
I thought the Edwards camp might want to know about this as every little bit might help. Just as long as you don't brag about it to the NOW democrats(The ones who've tried to get him kicked off the air)
Stern also had John Bon Jovi on, who I didn't know was a dem, but Howard asked him since he's "a big democrat" who he's backing, and John said that he was undecided. When Howards brought up Edwards(he had talked about him earlier in the show) Bon Jovi said that he liked Edwards too and that his optimism has really worked. Bon Jovi also said that he had met Clark and really thought he'd make a good president.

Randi with an 'i': female
She has (according to reports) a kick-a$$ local show in, of all places, West Palm Beach, Fla. (the "Graveyard of Democracy") There is, I believe, an Internet audio stream as well.
Supposedly her ratings in that market are two to three times higher than those of a certain other Palm Beach resident who eats about ninety OxyContin pills a day...

he was letting fear feed Bush's mass hypnosis about impotent Democrat leadership.

4. he's just a social liberal who thought regime change was right |
|
and we can't forfit all the people with those views(alot of which there are) if we're going to win the election.
Howard is such a New York institution, he took 9-11 particularly personal, and obviously believed in the "show the muslim world we're serious" theory.

|
When Bon Jovi said that he had met Clark, Stern said, jokingly, "what's he like, cut your hair Bon Jovi!" in an authoritarian voice. He probably just hasn't learned about him because the media is ignoring Clark, so because Howard is only a casual observer of politics, he hasn't really picked up on him.

There's an article in this month's ATLANTIC about celebrity endorsements. Bon Jovi gets mentioned, as he was a prominent Gore backer.
I guess the Clark folks actually reached out to him. The article mentions that Team Jovi was upset that the Clark folks seemed to take his support for granted, but didn't go into detail.

7. I stopped listening to Stern |
|
I stopped listening to him when he wouldn't listen to any dissent or reason regarding the Iraq War (which eventually led me to DU)... but, if he's starting to be open-minded again, I may have to tune in again.

as one of the reasons Edwards seemed to be attractive for him. Logic would follow if it's a concern of his, he must not know his record.

His rating with the League of Conservation Voters is 76%. Not awful but not attractive if its a main issue for the particular voter looking for a protect the environment candidate.

Never listened to his (or to any other) show but I think that he likes to talk about sexual matters that would cause Ashcroft and co. to wish he were closed. Is this correct?

16. yeah, Howard has a very European attitude towards sex |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 01:25 PM by DaisyUCSB
he doesn't talk about and do things involving sex as much as most people think he does. Most of his show is just about opinions and goofing on things and people that are either in the news or in the entertainment world
But on his TV show they pretty much show all of the things that will get as many male viewers as possible(T & A, T & A, and more T & A)
So yeah he's public enemy #1 of both the religious right(for both his sex-stuff and his agnostism/hard and hard pro-choice and anti-relion stances) as well as alot of the so-called "feminaze" left.
I guess my generation of women is less uptight than those who've come before because I like the radio show as much as my boyfriend

28. If Howard Stern says so..... |
|
then I'm gonna change my whole dem philosophy, after all, Howard Stern is the last mind speak on democratic issues. I'm just sitting here wondering, why didn't WHOREad STERN tell me who to vote for sooner, I could have bypassed alot of unpleasantness on GDprimary2004 to begin with, and if he and all the end all experts would have told me we should have backed an Edwards/Bon Jovi ticket in the first place, I could have saved myself alot of trouble. Where is the common sense and the democratic voice of reason when we need it, dammit, I should have been pushing a Howard Dean/Janet Jackson ticket or the ever popular electability team of John Kerry and Michael Moore, why didn't anybody tell me???????

30. Stern is hilarious but his pro-Bush position has made me sick. |
|
He's been supporting Bush all through this thing and continues to perpetuate the lies about WMD. I love his show and have been listening since 1986 but when he talks about Dubya's war in a positive way it sickens me.

Great idea, guys. Snub a huge media supporter of a Democratic candidate. We constantly complain that we can't get a word in edgewise on the airwaves, then when a guy with one of the largest audiences in radio speaks in our favor, we slam him. When Democrats act like this, I start to wonder if we don't deserve to lose.
