Former Lieberman allies rally around Lamont
Connecticut's Democrats had most of the staples at their summer picnic Sunday - pasta salad, burgers and speeches about serving blue-collar workers and taking back the governor's seat.

But one longtime fixture of Democratic party gatherings was absent: U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman, the party's former vice presidential candidate.

While he stayed out of the public eye Sunday, political allies with whom he'd campaigned and served for decades - including fellow U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd - cheered on his Democratic opponent, Greenwich millionaire Ned Lamont, with the same adoration they once showered upon Lieberman.

(snip)
"It's an unusual circumstance and it's very difficult for people like me, and those of us who've known and worked with Joe Lieberman for so many years," Larson said, "but the fact is, he's not on our team."
(U.S. Rep. John Larson)

4. Six years, not eight. No, much less than that.....
Actually, I'd say more like two months after the 2000 election... that day in December, 2000 when he stabbed Al Gore in the back.

Maybe even the evening he "debated" Cheney, which was more like a handoff to the next vice president.

Traitor is too kind a word for this scumbag.

2. Good for them.
It must be hard for many of them. Just imagine though. If the Iraq war had not been cheered on by so many who now refuse to say it was a mistake....things might never have changed.

I am sure it is not easy, and there should be no real pleasure in the pain of it for some.

raise this - I don't think Leiberman is a dirty trick guy, but does anyone have control over the swiftboat types?

<"We are disappointed by this show of political gamesmanship, but Joe Lieberman is undeterred and working hard to give the people of Connecticut a better choice for a new politics of unity and purpose," Sun said.>

Ummm...yeah whatever  He's not invited to march with Democrats because he's turned his back on the party and is now running as an Independent, criticizing the Democrats and hiring Republican strategists.

Perhaps Joe and Zell can organize a float in the march as turncoat Democrats

8. Is millionaire his first name or his last name....
It is used interchangeably by the media. Must be his first name, cuz they place extra emphasis on the millionaire when they say it first, like, Millionaire Ned Lamont.

11. Yeh.. but since he leans right.....
His leading label is 'moderate'. Like 'moderate' Susan Collins.
MSM games and word choices are so transparent.

12. So will he show up at the LaborDay parade where he was disinvited?

(an excerpt of an excerpt) Lieberman Controversy Attends Labor Day Parade Preparations
By John Voket

If US Senator Joseph Lieberman chooses to march in this year's Newtown Labor Day parade, he will likely do so as a true independent. Local members of the Democratic Town Committee, including First Selectman Herb Rosenthal and former staunch Lieberman supporter Jim Juliano, agree that the Senator has no reason to believe he is welcome to march beside other endorsed party candidates.

"By marching with members of the DTC and invited Democratic candidates and state leaders, it would give the impression that we support his candidacy," said Mr Rosenthal when asked about the issue late Wednesday.

"I told him through his office, that as a duly elected Democratic official, he's putting me in an uncomfortable, almost embarrassing position. We have a duly elected candidate, who was endorsed by a historic turnout of state Democrats in the recent primary. I don't have to march with , the DTC doesn't have to march with him, so why would he want to make it look like he's in good graces with the Democratic Party?" Mr Rosenthal continued. "He is not in good graces with state Democrats."

Later on the blogger points out that Joe - who is making a big show of having to show up at the Labor Day parade - this year... has only attended the parade one time in the past. Get it? He usually misses this parade.

Wonder if he will show up.
