NYT/Reuters: "Chameleon" Schwarzenegger Shows Green in Campaign
"Chameleon" Schwarzenegger Shows Green in Campaign
By REUTERS
Published: September 4, 2006

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Democratic opponents call him a chameleon, changing colors as he seeks re-election in a difficult year for Republicans nationwide.

Last week, the Republican Schwarzenegger was decidedly ''green,'' like the color of his campaign bus, as he struck a deal with the state legislature's Democratic majority to enact a law making California the first U.S. state to cap greenhouse-gas emissions.

In doing so, he snubbed his own party, much of the California business establishment and President Bush, whom Schwarzenegger has accused of doing too little to fight global warming.

With that and other initiatives that have made the former bodybuilder and star of the "Terminator'' movies look like a closet Democrat, Schwarzenegger has built a strong lead in the campaign.

A poll released last week by the Public Policy Institute of California gave Schwarzenegger 45 percent of the vote, a 13-point lead over State Treasurer Phil Angelides, the Democratic candidate....

2. Run to the left....Govern to the right....
The people of CA are allowing themselves to be duped once again.

Angelides came out of a nasty primary battle a bit bloodied and hasn't recovered. Meantime Ahnold is running as though he's a Democrat, too. Smoke and mirrors....and it seems to be working.

3. we're working! we're working!
Don't forget the unions hate him specifically and although West (arnold lite) campaigned like a republican, Angelides beat him. And of course, we are all worried. He may sound green, but he gave some cannery control over school lunches and the quality of school food has taken another dive.

We still have 64 days. Send us your good energy.

4. What frustrates me are all the Democrats supporting him
Bad enough Spielberg and his gang are backing Arnold, so are some of Di Fi's people, too!

What's even more disgusting is Villagarosa snubbing Angiledes!
