Pull the Plug!
I'm all for citizen's groups getting together to be involved in the political process. But this Swiftboating has got to be curtailed with accountability.

Jim Davis, Florida gubernatorial candidate, clearly has Big Sugar running scared. Last week I mentioned a pathetic attempt to attack his record with distortions of the truth. Just this weekend I got hit with "he has the second worst attendance record in congress."

This is an example of stating a flat out lie and counting on less informed and less curious voters from looking up the truth. Davis' record isn't stellar this year, but I can see how running for governor would cause him to miss votes.

109th 23.2%

108th 4.4 %

107th 2.5%

106th 2.1%

105th 1.5%

Still, with the worst in Congress being

109th Lane Evans 38.7%

108th Richard Gephardt 76.8%

107th Jim Traficant 41.3%

I somewhat doubt his record is the second worst. Is there no accountability for these groups? "Floridians for Working Families" my fanny. Any 526 that disseminates lies should face immediate fines and injunctions against further advertising.

By all means group together to promote issues, but this is beyond the pale. I don't care which candidate is having it done to them.
