Can a Democrat take the WH in 08 with *no* corporate money? |
|
Simple question.
What do you think? Can it be done?

Think how the corporate media refused to run ads WE the people pay for via such groups as Move On.
A candidate without corporate backing of some sort would never get a chance on TV.

the money dumped into think tanks, etc., in an effort to push a particular product or sway public opinion to a certain brand is too effective. Here, on a democratic website, people tune into hear paid for propaganda...that has zero basis in reality. We elect who our corporate masters select.

12. Yes. Neither Kerry nor Edwards took a single PAC dollar in 2004 and |
|
they didn't lose because they didn't have enough money. In fact, Dems outraised Republicans and Kerry had 4M left over on election day that he couldn't find anywhere to spend.
In fact, I think the odds are better than even that Edwards will run, not take a single dollar of PAC money again, and win in 2008.

the eve of the election to see kerry at toledo express airport, around midnight, couldn't get in the hanger, to many people, but i think he could have spent the money left over to find the truth.

18. The money couldn't be used because it was collected before the convention |
|
He accepted federal money (as did Bush) which meant he couldn't use it.

14. depends on what you mean |
|
No money directly from corporations. Of course. In fact, corporate contributions are illegal. No money from PACs sponsored by corporations? Possible, but harder No money from individuals with corporate interests? Not even remotely possible.

17. Depends if they win the house. |
|
If they win the house, then there's the potential for the GOP to be so entrenched in scandal that my dog could get elected president over a GOP candidate. But if they don't, then, well....

21. Possible, but if you talk about Congress as a whole, then NOOOOO |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-08-06 12:46 AM by Selatius
Several Democrats in Congress have and will continue to take corporate donations. The biggest corporate donors come from credit card companies and telecommunication companies as well as tech corporations. More traditional heavy industries and national defense, naturally, donate to Republicans. They don't like the environmentalist elements in the Democratic Party.
