Mark Warner as VP for Kerry or Clark?
VA governor. Great campaigner, great looks, great resume, no obvious downsides. I worked on his gubernatorial election as a regional press secretary and he was untouchable. He would put VA heavily in play.

1. I disagree. I don't think he has yet
proven himself for most Virginia voters. A year from now, it would make more sense to me.

3. I doubt he'll get the nod this year..
but i hope he runs for John Warner's senate seat when John retires, and set himself up to get on a presidential ticket.

6. Yeah but Allen is popular here
and John is retiring. It'd make more sense to go after that seat.

7. that's gross
i can't believe that fool is popular. but you are right, if john warner is going to retire anyways, mark warner should go for it. so there is no hope for getting rid of george allen when he is up for reelection ? i would love to get rid of him and norm coleman.

9. Well there's always a chance
but VA still likes its "good ol boys" and Allen likes to run around in cowboy boots so it works unfortunately

13. Allen has no more of a right to wear cowboy boots
and pass himself off as "common folk" than Bush* does

12. I don't care if he'sDLC or not...
he's been the most progressive governor in VA in at least the last 14 years.

16. Doug Wilder served as governor from 1989-1993
It's interesting that you consider Warner to be more progressive than Wilder. Granted, Wilder was a moderate governor, in the mold of Robb and Baliles before him, but I never thought of Warner as being any more progressive than Wilder was.

17. Just a quick comparison
Wilder made a proclamation celebrating Confederate History Month, Warner did not at the risk of alienating half of the state. Thats just a quick and dirty example on the surface,Wilder was not a good governor and he differently wasn't a progressive.

20. Too green, needs to establish his "bona fides"
I think he is doing a great job as gov. of Virginia but he is just getting started. I also don't think having him on the ticket would necessarily pull Virginia into the Dem column. Virginia governors are limited to one term and I think VA voters would resent Warner for "jumping" to run as VP.
