Boy, is my face RED!
Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 08:47 AM by Totally Committed

It appears that the list I posted was NOT the overnight Ratings (even though that's what I Googled!)

I'm really sorry for the mix-up, and will keep trying to get this information for you.

Many thanks to Contrary 1 for tipping me off to this! Again, my sincerest apologies!

TC

smarter than I give them credit for being????

8. Either that
or they've been the smart ones all along and it was those in fits of hysteria over a TV movie of the week who's intelligence was really in question. ;)

9. No, the American public just thought there was something
better on TV that The Path.

Have you ever compared the box office receipts of great documentaries to the box office receipts of movies like the Dukes of Hazzard? It is scary.

14. Maybe they have better taste
because I've read that the propaganda was typical for conservatively produced fare, bland and plodding.

I'm just surprised that the football game didn't appear in the top 5.

28. Miniseries take too much time and I believe most people won't choose
to watch something that is hard to follow and has shaky camera work.

18. Well, it would be you, me, Mr. BAL and millions of others, then.
When I read that, I got a headache because I was pretty sure he was watching football.

A group hallucination? Damn, those RW propagandists are more sneaky than I I give them credit for!

6. People from both sides were refusing to watch it. Yeah,
sometimes people surprise us. The thing about 9/11 is that it DID unite people, but sadly those using 9/11 for political ends don't understand that, they think it's something they can use to their own ends, but people see through that.

That's why I love GW to talk about 9/11, he's being seen for what he is, that's why his numbers will never get higher, so they have to pay pollsters to give him phoney numbers.

The more they lie, the more they go negative, it's all going to backfire in their deserving lying faces.

12. Exhausting...
this constant drumbeat to be afraid, very afraid, but don't forget to shop. No wonder most people would rather watch something else rather than be dragged *by choice* through the events of five years ago. Every time you turn on media today, you're going to hear 9/11, see 9/11, be reminded of how you felt, where you were, what you said and heard. The last thing wanted is to watch something about it that purports to 'entertain'. Who, except GWB and Co., is going to make a big batch of popcorn and sit down in cold blood to watch this (all six interminable hours! Who directed it -- Werner Fassbinder?). Neither of the two 9/11 theatre movies did all that well -- they certainly weren't box-office 'hits' even if they may have made a profit -- and I don't imagine this will do any better in the ratings.

26. Newest Info from Neilsen:
Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 09:41 AM by Totally Committed
Sunday 9/10/06
Metered Market Ratings

Household Rating/Share
NBC: 12.5/19, Fox: 8.0/12, ABC: 7.5/11, CBS: 7.4/11

-Percent Change From the Comparable Year-Ago Period (Sunday 9/11/05)
NBC: +150, ABC: +56, CBS: + 9, Fox: - 1

----------

Note: The fast national rating results on Sunday were not available at press time. Also note: The listing of winners and losers will return on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
NBC is shaping up to be the network to beat on Sunday in fourth quarter, with the Indianapolis vs. N.Y. Giants match-up on the premiere of Sunday Night Football at a hefty 15.1/23 in the overnights from 8:30-11:15 p.m. Earlier in the evening, the debut of pre-game Football Night in America averaged an approximate 6.3/10 in the overnights from 7-8:30 p.m. As a reminder, fast national results for Sunday were not available at press time.

Part one of miniseries The Path to 9/11 on ABC ran neck-and-neck with a repeat of documentary 9/11 on CBS in the metered markets. ABC’s The Path to 911 averaged an 8.2/12 from 8-11 p.m., while CBS’ 9/11 encore also posted an 8.2/12 from 8:30-10:30 p.m. A U.S. Open Tennis overrun on CBS (#2, 6.6/11 from 7-7:30 p.m.) delayed the start of the Eye net’s line-up by 30-minutes, leading into 60 Minutes at a 7.7/12 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. A repeat of Cold Case closed the evening for CBS with a 5.0/ 9 from 10:30-11:30 p.m. Also on ABC was a repeat of America’s Funniest Home Videos at a typical 5.0/ 8 from 7-8 p.m.

Fox debuted its Sunday night-night 8-10 p.m. line-up following a half-hour Football overrun (16.2/27 at 7 p.m.) and post-game coverage (10.3/17 at 7:30 p.m.). Season No. 18 of The Simpsons (can you believe how fast time is flying?) opened with a healthy 8.1/12 in the overnights (#3) at 8 p.m., which was down by just 6 percent from its year-ago season-premiere on Sunday 9/11/05 (8.6/13). That led into the season-premiere of American Dad at a fourth-place 6.0/ 9 at 8:30 p.m. -- 26 percent below lead-in The Simpsons. Keep in mind that former time period occupant The War at Home debuted with a similar 6.4/10 on the year-ago evening. At 9 p.m., the season-premiere of survivor Family Guy perked up to a 6.7/10 (#4) -- 2 percent above its year-ago season-premiere (6.6/10, also on 9/11/05). Capping off the evening for Fox was the second-season premiere of live-action sitcom The War at Home with a 5.0/ 7 at 9:30 p.m. -- 25 percent below lead-in Family Guy and 12 percent below the year-ago season-premiere of former occupant American Dad (5.7/ 8). Since Fox, of course, is dependent of the demos, the real results will follow once the nationals are released.

Hope that helps until I can find better stats!
