Internal Polls in Georgia don't look good. |
|
If our internal polls are correct we are going to get a "moderate" Democrat to replace McKinney and LOSE two US House Districts. This has been how it's been for a long time - but now the races are even more apart.
I wish other DUers would post results of internal polls - if they know the results.
I don't construct the questions, just ask and record the results.
Governor Perdue's ads seem to be working also. He gained over Democrat Lieutenant-Governor Mark Taylor (his opponent)since his (or his Committee's) ads revealed that the Taylor family has leased land to the state for millions of dollars for a long time.. It's now 68% to 29%.
Also, the Republican will retain control of the State House and Senate if our polls are right.
These people polled were believed to be Democrats or said they were, and you know, of course, that no one ever lies to pollsters.
No US Senators are running this time.

3. Did you not sign a confidentiality agreement? |
|
I've worked on a lot of campaigns, and I've never seen a member of a polling team divulge the results... especially on a chat board.
Which firm do you work for?

6. No kidding. The poor and most middle-class cannot easily vote. |
|
The system here dissuades them from voting.
And beyond the polls, we were the first 100% Diebold state.
Democrats are done here.

Georgia is a Pubbie stronghold state at this point, numbers in the state are only slightly different from those of Texas.
No surprise about the state government monopoly. But the House numbers...I wouldn't trust those very far. If they hold that way into October, perhaps then.
If you haven't realized this, in national polling about 20% of people who call themselves Democrats on the phone are politically Right or hardcore conservative or have the views of moderate Republicans nationally. Their views lie in the rightmost 32-38% of the political spectrum. They almost invariably vote Republican. Anecdotally something like 2/3 or 3/4 of these 20% are white Southerners and generally elderly. It distorts partisan polling and is a phenomenon both Parties openly manouver around in the South.
From 700 miles away, after 6-8 years of watching the national scene fairly closely I couldn't tell you what the Georgia state Democratic Party stand for other than (a) more of a lassaiz-faire attitude in local issues and strategic ambiguity on national ones, and (b) one side of the racial divide in the state. The local reason to vote for them seems to be They're Not Republicans. That's not better or worse than a lot of other reasons, but there is no political mandate in winning an election on that other than to keep the office chair warm with a Democratic ass.

The only incumbent Democratic House Rep who polls under 50% is supposedly Melissa Bean, in Illinois.

Even the ones who attend meetings in my county are at least 50% Republican voters.
They just haven't changed parties.
