Fawcett Leads Lamborn in Colorado CD-5
As unbelieveable as it may be, Jay Fawcett now leads Christian Conservative Doug Lamborn in the heavily Republican district:

According to polling results from Democrat Jay Fawcett, not only can he upset Republican Doug Lamborn in CD-5...he's leading by a wide margin. Get this guy some $$$$$ people!!!

As Colorado Confidential reports:

Jay Fawcett’s campaign manager momentarily paused after rattling off the results of what she describes as the most comprehensive poll conducted among potential voters in Colorado’s overwhelmingly Republican 5th Congressional District.
• 41 percent were likely to vote for Fawcett, the Democrat.
• 28 percent were likely to vote for Republican Doug Lamborn.
• Another 28 percent are undecided.

“I kid you not,” said Wanda James.

2. This has to be a dream
This is Colorado Springs, the most Republican area in that state. This is amazing.

4. I have relatives there, and they are ticked at the CC for trying
to come in and take over the city.

5. Isn't that where Dobson lives?
I hope he's getting an ulcer praying to God, "Oh, lord, why isn't my flock listening to me, your chosen emissary on Earth, on how to vote?"

7. Yes, and Jay is running againt him
He made it a point to stand up against the Christian Right, and particularly Dobson, every chance he gets. It's making an impact.

3. Considering that...
the last time a Democrat got over 40% was when Tom Conin, a professor at Colorado College and a former speechwriter for JFK, ran in an open race. Most Democrats have received from 25-28% running against the Republican incumbent, including yours truly.

8. I can't decide if this poll is legit or not
On the one hand, the sample size of 600 seems kind of small. On the other hand, a campaign gains nothing by decieving itself with inaccurate internal polls. I'd really like to believe we have a double-digit lead on Lamborn, but I'll wait for election day.

Definately give whatever you can to Fawcett though. He's a stand-up guy.

9. Wahoo.....that's my guy!!!!
It CAN be done, I'm tellin ya! Colorado Springs isn;t only the land of fundies, folks, it's also the home to 4 military bases. Bottom line is, Fawcett is a veteran of the first gulf war. Lamborn is, well, a "Dobson/Bush" chicken hawk kind of guy.

10. O...forgot to mention
Hefley(R), the retiring congressman, who still has high favorablity in these parts, refuses to endorse Lamborn. He sites Lamborns dirty campaign against Crank during the primaries as his reason. He hasn't endorsed Fawcett, at least not yet, but Fawcett has other republican heavy hitters endorsing him. It's gonna be a wild October and November around here, and I have to say it's about time that this seat is competitive.
