'ARE we at war?' --- there is the wedge issue
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 09:30 AM by underpants
The Republicans' wedge issue for the midterms has appeared at it is a basic question. A question in which the "battlefield" has been so prepped that they don't even have to give you the options or tell you which options means to vote for them.

ARE WE AT WAR?

Basic. Clean and simple.

All the RW noise machine hammering the obvious-that we are at war- has clearly to been done to cement their place on this simple black and white issue. We are at war. Now that is the WHAT...the HOW (How we are going to handle it) is the big question but now is not a time for such complexity. There is no time for an explanation of what the plan is. It is simply time to look deep into your soul to look yourself directly in the eye and ask yourself one simple question

ARE WE AT WAR?

Answer that and you will know what needs to be done.

Got it?

2. Answer: Haven't we always been?
Where were you guys BEFORE 9/11?

You criticize Clinton (in a round about way) for not "getting Bin Laden" well does that mean that we were already in this war and you dropped the ball?

Oh I'm sorry that is too complicated for you isn't it?

Note that this part-the time feature- is missing from the original issue.

3. this should be a poll - and
if you make one, be sure to include a choice for "yes, against enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC."

We are at war. Not in IraqNam, not in Afghanistan, not in Pakistan, Venezuela, Sudan, Syria, Lebanon, or North Korea. We are in a domestic civil war. Our enemy is the neocon leadership, supported by multinational arms, banking and energy interests and corporate news services which provide anything but.

Yes, we are at war, but we have the vast majority of the people. They just don't believe in us yet. But they will. The greed will soon overtake what little common sense remains in the ranks of those in power.

5. IF WE ARE AT WAR
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 10:17 AM by muesa
  1. Why do we cut our tax base (Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains tax)?
  2. Why do we cut our tax rate (especially for the top 2%)?
  3. If we are at war - in the ME "oil patch" - why no increase in CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy)?
  4. If we are at war - in the ME "oil patch" - why no "Manhattan Project" to wean us from imported (ME) oil (e.g., a major push on biofuels, ethanol from various feeds beyond corn, smart cars, transit construction, ...)?
  5. If we are at war - in the ME "oil patch" - (Cynical question) - why hasn't Halliburton, KBR, or Bechtel made a major move in synthetic fuels and bio-fuels?

We are only "at war" to the extent necessary to enhance the "Unitary Executive" Presidency and further curtail civil liberties.

One need only read "The Bush Agenda: Invading the World, One Economy at a Time" by Antonia Juhasz.

(My prejudice and bias and POV - this is a war for Carlyle, Big Oil, and the munitions makers -- strictly a subterfuge for the real PNAC agenda - Carlyle, Big Oil, the munitions makers, and the "unitary executive" fascists).
