Can the Geneva Convention rules be changed without other countries... |
|
signing on to the changes? Can the US unilaterally change an agreement between nations? Is this entire argument moot? It is an international agreement. We cannot change without agreement of all the nations involved. Has this been discussed?

1. I think the gist of what Bush is trying to do, is change the U.S.'s |
|
interpretation of how it "adheres to" this treaty.
Geneva was an international treaty, so of course the U.S. can't unilaterally change its terms or content.

7. If they want to say that "boarding", etc , is only open to interpretation, |
|
..they are trying to change the rules themselves.

Unilaterly to COVER HIS ASS.
There they go again, using the Laws to their advantage: In this Case...they even attempt to CHANGE things...NOT FOR US, but for THEM.
Despicable and not ver Productive toward a Better Society.
He is further eroding the TRUST the USA once HAD...
He panders to those who do not have a understanding of almost anything except who won the GAME, whether it be a race or football, etc. Iliterate/Alliterate people hardly understand shit except what they are told. That is our mission, to open their eyes just a bit
Can we do it in time?? Yes, look all around us...ppl are waking up...but not enough...we need more...and we are doing it...the cracks have widened...Bush is getting STRIDENT and ANGRY..classic signs of a Narccisant (Bad term)

Congress can pass any law it likes, but waterboarding and other "harsh interrogation techniques" are forms of torture. Saying otherwise chages nothing.
Laws like the one Bush wants Congress to enact aren't written in English. They are written in Newspeak.
