The evolution of people and the acceptance of the evolved person |
|
I've had this one floating around in my head and my heart for quite some time.
Some people are blessed with insight from the start and unerringly choose the 'right' path from the start. These are rare people, indeed.
Some people see things one way at the start, whether by nature or nurture, but over time evolve to hold other views, some diamtetrically opposed to those they held at the start. These people are far less rare. But they may still differ in motivation. Some seem to evolve, but do so for more calculated reasons while others calculate that reason should prevail and follow reason to its end.
Just by way of example, some of today's true believer neocons started their politcal life as Democrats.
And some of today's Democrats stared their politcal life as Republicans.
Hippies of the 60s are 'establishment' today.
Some Harvard MBAs have dropped out, choosing to raise goats and make chevre in the Adorondacks.
People change. People evolve.
I mention all this because it troubles me to see honest change in others cast as suspect.

When did you ever think that Pink Floyd would be background for a news program, or Led Zepplin would be the sound track for a Caddy commercial?? Simply amazing to me.... peace out.

Article 18. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html

Some changes-of-heart are cynical, no doubt; but many are genuine.
In any case, if we are to get away from the disastrous leaders that have damaged the world so much, we will depend on some people changing their minds and votes.
