Rasmussen polling dems leading in three key states - senate races

New Polls: Dems Widen Leads Over GOP Incumbents In Three Key Senate Races
By Greg Sargent | bio

A spate of new polls just out from Rasmussen shows that Dems have widened their leads in three key Senate races:

-- In Ohio, Dem Sherrod Brown now leads GOP Senator Mike DeWine by six points, 47%-41%. Last month, a Rasmussen poll showed that Brown's lead was statistically insignificant.

-- In Rhode Island, Dem Sheldon Whitehouse is head of GOP Senator Lincoln Chafee by eight points, 51%-43%. A little over two weeks ago, Rasmussen had Whitehouse ahead by only two points.

-- And in Montana, after a series of bad gaffes by GOP Senator Conrad Burns, Dem Jon Tester is ahead of the incumbent by nine points, 52%-43%. They were tied at 47% in August, according to Rasmussen.

Note that all three trailing Republicans are incumbents.

1. Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee?
Those would be three huge pick-ups. I want 2 of the 3 preferably.

2. If Santorum doesn't go down I'll be depressed for a year. He is my
personal "worst person in the world". I cannot stand him.

4. Don't forget Minnesota
We aren't going to get an actual seat pick up as Mark Dayton (D) elected not to run, but it's still a check in the Blue column.

Klobuchar keeps big lead over Kennedy

A charged-up DFL base and disapproval of Bush play a role in the margin, similar to a July poll's.
Patricia Lopez, Star Tribune

Last update: September 18, 2006 – 6:30 AMDFL U.S. Senate candidate Amy Klobuchar continues to hold a dominant lead over GOP rival Mark Kennedy, 56 to 32 percent, in the latest Minnesota Poll, a margin similar to the one she had in July.

5. Missouri Senate: In Persistently Close Race, It's Now McCaskill By 3
September 15, 2006

Democrat Claire McCaskillIn this fiercely competitive campaign, Democratic Missouri State Auditor Claire McCaskill now leads Republican Senator Jim Talent 45% to 42% (see crosstabs).

This is the tenth election poll showing the combatants separated by less than the margin of error. Rasmussen Reports has so far conducted eleven surveys of the contest.

Missouri remains one of six Toss-Up states in our Senate Balance of Power summary. The other Toss-Ups are Rhode Island, New Jersey, Montana, Ohio and Tennessee.

6. Given the bad feelings in Missouri towards Baby Blunt and Bush I would
imagine Talent will be beaten.
