In the C-Span debate on teevee right now, he was asked, since the word is a French Tunisian racial slur, and since his mother is French Tunisian, if he's sure he never heard the word before. He denied it. He sounded like a fucking liar.

Now he's being asked about denying having Jewish blood (his mother's father is Jewish). He got all indignant. "Don't bring my mother into this debate." His chest is all puffed out.

He apologizes. He does not apologize for wrting about it then as it was a contextual issue and part of an ongoing debate.

He pointed all he has done to advance women's role in the military. He feels that by talking about the issues then, the debate was advanced and women have made great strides.

Felix jumps on the idea of the midshipmen (women) who are now complaining about his words back then. He's now trying to paint Webb as a mysogninist and him as a paragon of championing women's rights.

Webb countered that he acted both *on his own* (when SecNav) and in concert with many others to advance women in the military, that he fully supports women's rights and offers his record of action as proof. He avers that it was the work he and others did in having an honest debate that led to where we are today. (That may sound like he is taking all the credit .... he surely was not ... blame my unskillful reporting, not what he said.)
