felix looks a little TOO much like Alfred E. Newman.
One set of footwear looks like it belongs to a genuine working man. The other looks like it belongs to the Sunday afternoon phony would-be cowboy, all duded up for the dude ranch.

8. The combat boots belong to Webb's son, who I think is |
|
serving in Iraq.
Allen thinks he's a Virginia cowboy
I know there was an old tv show called The Virginian. Is that what he thinks he's portraying?

If the election were being decided solely on grounds of taste in footwear I'd probably back Allen, I'm afraid - those boots have style, although I wouldn't want to wear them myself.

|
But as Webb says, there are no cowboys in Virginia.

The Republican prefers COWBOY Boots, and the Democrat prefers (used)COMBAT Boots.
There's an election ad there somewhere.

16. Cowboy boots, in Texas, yes. In Virginia, I dunno. . . |
|
Somehow, I doubt real Virginians would be caught dead wearing those "shit-kickers" even when riding horses.
Many Virginians, especially in the north, are into the formal, equestrian, English-style riding, complete with sleigh rides, dressage, jump shows and fox hunts. Heck, their schools reflect this form of riding: Sweet Briar College, Madeira School, Foxcroft Academy, Woodberry Forest School. Etc.
Somehow, "Felix" is just not part of that scene.
