Weird telephone poll I got earlier |
|
Generally, I think most polls are BS but I had one call me. They said it would take 6-8 mins., and all I'm doing is watching the football game which was (and still is 0-0), so I said sure. First question: Do you work in media, advertising, or marketing. I said no. They asked my age and I told them. Now the big one: are you a republican, democrat, independent, or other?
Having had a couple of beers, the mischievous side of me came out. I said I'm republican. They asked if I were a strong republican and I said yes. They said thank you and that was all they needed to know.
The problem is, I wasn't finished. I wanted to answer questions about Bush as if I were a staunch supporter. I wanted to answer questions about Iraq, Iran, tax cuts, Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, NSA wiretapping, etc. I wanted my 6-8 minutes to say exactly what I thought of the pathetic shrub.

1. It may have been a Dem or Indie poll |
|
Since you weren't Dem or Indie - who they were looking for, they didn't need your opinions.

Depending on what they are researching polling companies try to weed out extremes on the left and right. Let's say that 95% of the time when someone says "yes" to the "strong" repuke or Dem question that they can predict what the answers will be. Then that is a wasted call IF their intention is to try to find not so polarizing people. In other words if the research is to find out what "moderates" are thinking, then they basically quota the person that says "Moderate, Independent, leans Dem or Repuke."
Now, if the research is to find out what people with "Strong" beliefs are and if those people are waffling, then when you answered YES you would have been included while moderates and independents may have received the "Thanks goodbye" line.

4. Maybe it was a Dem poll and they wanted to know what Dems think. |
