CT Senate: Lamont (D) 43%, Schlesinger (R) 5%, Lieberman (Lieberman) 45% |
|
September 19, 2006 In one of the country's most closely watched races, incumbent Senator Joseph Lieberman (I) continues to sustain a bare lead, now 45% to 43%, over Democrat Ned Lamont (see crosstabs). http://rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/September%202006/ConnecticutSenate.htm

2. Schlesigner better be invited to the debate |
|
Conservatives need to know that Lieberman is not a reliable conservative. Take away foreign policy and he is no conservative. We need Schlesinger at the debates to point that out.

4. If Lieberman wins, the Dems had better disown him IMMEDIATELY |
|
Hell, they should do so NOW, before the election takes place. I don't give a rat's tail about the "We need a majority in the Senate, even if we have to keep Joe Lieberman" crap. He is a Republican through and through, as this poll shows clearly (unless you delusionally think the Repugs not voting for Schlesinger are supporting Lamont.) Throw him to the wolves, he seems happiest there.

5. They might have to take him |

If Democrats win 50 seats in the Senate, excluding Lieberman, and Lieberman wins, they will need his vote for control. In a case like that we will have to swallow our pride and accept him back.
If Democrats are still in the minority, though, I agree, throw him overboard.

9. And Lieberman will give them his vote? |
|
I find it far more likely that, if there is a 50/50 split, Lieberman will tell the Democratic Caucus to kiss his behind, he's a Republican now (seeing as how they voted him in to office, after all.)
But if what you say comes to pass, it will only prove the absolute corruption and total disregard for principle that has become the hallmark of the national Democratic "leadership."

8. They certainly won't if he wins |
|
The fact that they won't do this now shows that Senate Democrats beleive that he has a reasonable chance of winning reelection.

6. It Would Serve Everybody Right If Schlesinger Threw Support to Lamont |
|
A Big Ole FU to the GOP and their prize pony, since they couldn't be bothered to support their own candidate.

7. I'm sure that this is within the margin of error |

and a statistical tie.
I like the ads LaMont is running about Joe being a turncoat. This article shows that Republicans are voting for Lieberman not their own candidate. LaMont needs to get more of the 27% of Dems who are supporting Lieberman into his camp & he wins.
