Republicans Near Midterm Elections With $60M Spending Plan
WASHINGTON — The national Democratic Party has spent millions on raising money, consultants and building state parties, entering the weeks before Election Day with only about one-fifth as much as the Republicans for races that could decide control of Congress.

The Republican National Committee is prepared to spend $60 million over the next seven weeks on advertising and get-out-the-vote efforts to protect the GOP's narrow majorities in the House and Senate.

The Democratic National Committee plans to use about $12 million, all devoted to getting voters to the polls. Even in that effort, though, it has set aside only an average of $60,000 in each of the 40 most competitive congressional races in the country.

DNC Chairman Howard Dean has delivered more resources toward building the party at the state level than any other DNC chairman. In doing so, the DNC as of July 31 had transferred nearly $17 million to state and local party committees across the country, with significantly more going to states with competitive races, according to party officials.

On the other hand -

The Democratic chair plans to fight in every one of the 50 states. Is this shrewd strategy or a recipe for disaster?

A big bet. With the future of the Democratic Party at stake, Republicans are watching closely, too. "Dean could wind up looking like a genius eventually," says a top GOP strategist. "Or this could be the election that could have been."

2. Any wonder corporate media loves these guys?
And DEMs have to spend all the more just to try to set record straight after corporate 'news' twists and spins.

5. None of the Democratic blogs or forums push DNC fundraising.
They never have.

I found out why I have not been getting the DNC emails for donations. They don't usually send fundraising mails to Democracy Bond holders.

They should, though. We donate other times as well.

Anyway, some sent an explanation with the email for fundraising. I kicked a little extra their way.

Our Florida party leaders don't like the 50 State Strategy, because Florida is not getting as much money as they did before. So the fact they dissed it made hubby and I determined to donate more.

Party leaders should not be negative like that.

7. I recommended this.
It is important that we be willing to fund the change we want.

Chances like this to build a power base outside of DC seldom come along, and I hope we don't blow it fighting over 08.

8. Thank you!
The grass roots enabled Dean to take over the DNC, now we MUST support him!
