The Latest in Republican Video Slime
Just in case you ever wonder if we're too tough on Republicans and whether it's time to reach a hand of friendship across the aisle, I have an ad for you to watch. It's produced by the ultraconservative Progress for America (PFA) group and, despite the ludicrous claim on their web site saying that PFA "does not support or oppose candidates and does not engage in Federal election activities," it is running heavily in Ohio and Missouri where, not coincidentally, there are key U.S. Senate races this year.

To the best my knowledge, we can't embed YouTube on DU, so take a quick detour to my site to see the ad.

Kind of makes you feel warm all over doesn’t it? I especially like the nice touch of implying that Al Qaeda will flood the United States if we leave Iraq, despite Osama bin Laden and Company having almost nothing to do with what's happening there now.

The cretins at PFA say that their mission is to promote "nonpartisan, conservative policies that improve the quality of life for the American people." By what? Scaring the hell out of them with nonsense like this?

I'm sorry to have exposed you to that. Go take a nice cleansing shower -- you'll feel better. But please let this serve as a constant reminder of what kind of people we're up against.

1. This ad running heavy in Ohio, I came home from work
at 11pm and have seen it 3 times so far. I think that will be the Swift Boat ad of 2006, we better come come up with something to answer that one or the hopes for 2006 are dim. It is a powerful ad to play on peoples fears.

4. Kinda weird hearing that Winnie-the-Pooh-ish voice that usually lists
side effects ("may cause oily anal leakage, headache, and shortness of breath") saying, "They want to kill you." Anyway, this thing needs a strong rebuttal to set the facts straight. :patriot:
