So why all the distressful posts and email campaign to McCain on DU? The asswipe is a repub and in
the end he worked out a deal with his party's Prez. I'm SHOCK! :sarcasm:

What the shit did anyone think he would do?

11. I was hoping McCain would maintain his integrity and there would...
...either be votes on two separate bills, or the whole issue would be delayed until next year.

While I never liked the McCain bill, I was still disappointed when McCain caved to Bush and made things worse.

23. Not Me... And I Wasn't Playing Sam
I was asking a question as to who in particular, becaue I wasn't aware of any DU email campaign.... and as for "distressful posts"... that's a subjective and open to interpretation. Pissed.... people should be.

8. Me. I was expecting John McCain to be more principled...
...on this issue of torture. An issue he knows about first-hand, unfortunately.

Yet McCain caved to Bush.

24. And You Did NOTHING WRONG
I had little hope for any of the Pukes to do anything right, but I wouldn't jump on you if you did, nor do I think hope is a bad thing at all. What is bad, are the people rubbing it into other's faces without anything constructive to say towards folks such as yourself for hoping. To me, it looks as if they aim to demoralize, or kick folks when they are down.

for Rove to use and can now hold off a vote until after the elections when we have more votes.

5. I keep falling for this
I've always wanted to trust the guy, but this is it. He hasn't the morals to be in Congress, never mind be President. He's let ambition trump principle and that doesn't do anyone any good. Democrats take note.

...to at least stick to the principles of his own lousy bill.

I expected too much. McCain caved to Bush.

I'll try not to trust Republican politicians, again.

He is still in love with George, and can't see the forest for the trees. As far as looking at McCain to fight for us, that's a joke, right? I wouldn't trust any republican to fight for me, for heaven's sake.

McCain re. 2008 if he'd cave on this one. McCain has no principles at all and desperately wants a BFEE endorsement down the road.

21. Because people are stooopid.
I remember one time, when the shuttle exploded before landing, someone here psoted what the Freepers were saying about it. The DUer who posted it, and a few others who commented, talked about how it was such a nice thread and that maybe the Freeps were "ok" after all etc.

It was so pathetic. I have to say that some Dems are the biggest suckers ever to walk the planet.

25. Football analogy: Never sit on a lead
Beltway Democrats saw the polls and thought all they needed to do is to sit tight and people would just vote for them because they were disgusted with Bush. WRONG!

McCain is a dirt bag, how could anyone expect anything out of him that would be out of character?

26. I knew he'd cave
No surprise there. He always does. Why he has the reputation of being a maverick is beyond me. He gets a little media face time then caves into BushCO.

He's an opportunist. He gets extra attention by voicing opposition but in the end he maintains his loyal Repug status. He has ZERO credibility IMHO.

McCain may talk the talk on occasion, but he will NEVER walk the walk. Ever.

thinking the "maverick" GOP Senators were on the verge of doing the right thing
ha, ha, ha - as if

Now it is up to the Democrats to fight this BS legislation tooth and nail because it's the right thing to do. The "Dems are weak on terror" meme will be thrown at them, just like it was in 2000, 2002, and 2004, and it's time to put that BS to rest.

29. I didn't - McCain is GOP, period
You can't expect a man who put up with Rove's smears about his wife and child yet still remains loyal to his party to do otherwise.

McCain did worse than nothing. He used his status as a former POW to help lend legitimacy to Bush's attempt to dump on US law. He allowed Bush to exploit the tragedy of Vietnam POW's to bolster his case.

30. Love the Charlie Brown analogy
How perfect.

The McCain worship - on the left, the "middle," and the moderate right - is one of the most unwarranted and pathetic spectacles of modern politics. The man is a craven, unprincipled whore who has already demonstrated that he'll betray his family, his past, his comrades in arms, and his old friends just to prostrate at the feet of the Bush cabal in hopes that they'll help him advance his own career. He is the modern American Judas and I have nothing but disgust and contempt for him. When the Bushniks betray him and fail to aid him in 2008 I will be the first person to laugh in his face as he realizes that he sold his soul to the devil for empty promises.

When you make a deal with the devil, Johnny, you can expect to get burned. And I can't WAIT to see him fall.
