My analysis on the Clinton/Wallace interview |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 12:24 PM by joeprogressive
I was a little scared to watch it b/c the way Wallace had billed it the day before it aired made it sound like Clinton was out of line. Further, the transcript that was posted did not paint an accurate impression in at least my mind about what took place (because it seemed like he was constantly cutting Wallace off). After watching the interview, here is what I determined:
1. Clinton was completely appropriate and handed Wallace his ass to him.
2. Clinton left office with a 67% approval rating, higher than any other president since they tracked that statistic. He also is loved around the world. The things he is doing with the CGI has little to do with restoring his image following impeachment. He really does want to change the world just as he did when he was president. Bush will never be able to pull off anything meaningful as a former president b/c of his low standing with the rest of the world, lack of compassion, and complete ignorance about world suffering.
3. Wallace came in with an obvious agenda of asking a few questions to satisfy the agreement then made it look like email dictated his questions about Bin Laden.
4. Clinton, although he reacted as if he was ambushed, knew he would be. He used that against Wallace and proceeded to hand his ass to him.
5. Wallace, although a right wing hack actually was convinced by the end of the interview that Clinton was right. His smirk had evolved to a look of amazement of Clinton's brilliance and he knew he had his ass handed to him and there was nothing he could do at that point to score any points. When he said thanks for the most "unusual" interview, he meant unusual because Fox wasn't able to dictate the argument for once by making the rules.
6. I would vote for Clinton in heartbeat tomorrow and would love to see what he could accomplish with a supportive congress. He will be a great ambassador of our country as he works on the world's problems.
7. Bush will be reduced to mush when he is forced to answer tough questions about his disastrous presidency. That is why he will be on the ranch, avoiding all media, and doing what he has always done; hiding from the world's problems.

I just finished watching the Big Dawg on MTP -- I miss him so much. He was absolutely wonderful.

He's still my president.

5. Bill Clinton was entirely appropriate in his response |
|
to Wallace's obvious right-wing ambush attempt. He was understandably angry, but articulate and thoughtful, and he looked like the statesman he is. Once again, Bill Clinton has impressed me with his intelligence and depth.
Can you imagine how chimpy would have handled himself in a similar situation? He would have bared his teeth and started throwing feces.

is they say things that are politically expedient and not based in fact. That's why they are now having the difficult task of trying to answer the question of how they could say Clinton was obsessed with Bin Laden and the whole wag the dog argument then, to trying to now say he wasn't concerned with Al Qaeda. Wasn't it Bush that said "I don't give it much thought" in reference to Bin Laden. Do Fox analysts ever bring up that quote? They are in complete denial.

9. Yeah, but they don't need to use reason for their spin. I guess |
|
they'll ride along on the "Clinton is Crazed" spin.
