Why Did You Vote For Your Democrat

Of late, the "Battlin' Congressional Dems" have been fleeing from, and surrendering to, anything the Rethugs do - raping the Constitution, torture, flag burning - anything. A great disappointment. Even my own Congressman, the formerly bespined Barney Frank, lectured my buddy the other day about why talking of impeaching an extraordinarily evil President will just hurt the Dems - last time I voted for Barney he had a spine (looks like I'll vote for the Green Party next election).

To those of who actually voted for the Hillary Clintons and Harry Reids of the world: I'm curious as to why you did it?

He's not an emperor. He can't just wave a magic wand and make everyone do his bidding. Good grief. The Democrats are the minority party. They control nothing.

Using your standards I should vote against my Congresswoman Barbara Lee because she hasn't been able to stop what's been going on either. She's one of the most progressive people in Congress.

If we only vote for people we 100% agree with the Democrats won't have any seats left.

The Democrats have not only failed to fight the Rethugs - they have aided them by refusing to even censure the President for what is clearly illegal, and for their continued support of a really bad war.

In case you hadn't noticed, Democrats are NOT in the majority of either house. They can't stop a single bill that the Repubs want from passing. They can't get a single bill passed unless the Repubs want it too. They can't even get a bill put on the agenda for a vote if Hastert or Frist don't let them, and they only let 'em if it's to their advantage.

I don't see any Democrats who have "simpley shrugged their shoulders." But they are playing a game of allowing as little harm as possible while maximizing their chances of taking control in November. I don't know if they're gonna be successful, but people like you, with your "I'm going to vote Green next time" bullshit, sure don't help.

16. It Wasn't That Long Ago, Was It?

Remember when Feingold tried to censure Bush for utterly blowing off the Fourth Amendment? And the Battlin' Congressional Dems fled like scared puppies, and needed a new change of underwear? (The same ones who were only too happy to censure Clinton for lying about a cigar sex? Or have you forgotten that too?)

Not only is censure a statement of outrage - it might be of critical importance in Supreme Court Rulings. But the Battlin' Congressional Dems chose to be craven cowards instead of defending our country. Other than Feingold, Conyers, and perhaps a few others, they are nothing but trianguatin' Rethug enablers.

15. I voted for both of our Democratic Senators because:

1. They were the best choice in their races, imho.

2. Their overall voting records. (I don't have a one vote litmus test, and I'm not a one issue voter.)

3. Their overall representation of the majority views of Democrats in our State.

4. They generally shared the same political goals as I do and understood the mechanics of Congress (I'm a long term voter, especially in Senate races, don't favor term limits, and support a long term Democratic power structure in the Federal establishment)

5. They've picked their battles well, overall, and focus on the work a Senator can accomplish. (One is better at Committee mechanics, even as limited as we Democrats are today in that venue, and the other is better at the bully pulpit to publicly promote the minority party position. It has worked out to be a good team, even when they disagree, imo.)

6. They have not become fatalistic or dismissive of Democratic policies and opportunities to build on what we have, regardless of our differences, and regain control of the Congress.

7. They are both women. (Not necessarily a pc stand, but even today we are lacking in representation at the Federal level from women.)

Feinstein and Boxer are my Senators.

17. Ted Kennedy is many things, but....

"spineless" is not one of them. He's been an amazing Senator for my state for a very long time. I couldn't consider not supporting him for even one second.
