Evidence Is Mounting That Sen. Allen (R-Macaca) Has Racist Tendencies

<snip>

The latest claim of Allen's "racism" comes from three former teammates of Allen's at the University of Virginia, who told the liberal online journal Salon that Allen "repeatedly used" the "N-word" and demonstrated racist attitudes toward blacks during the early 1970s.

Now, a lot of people -- Virginia voters included -- are re-examining the "good ol' boy" stories, and like a poorly made suit, the threads are unraveling rapidly. Allen has a law degree; he must realize that the evidence is mounting against him.

1. Allen comments on use of N-word...
says it was a word he just made up. Did not know it was offensive.

2. This is no suprise to his enemies, and not an issue to his supporters.
I have little faith in my fellow man.

The fact that his supporters will learn from the article that he's a jewish lawyer will have a greater negative impact.

3. repeatedly used the n word in the seventies
At that time it was still in relatively commom use on TV in the UK. Given that it wasn't us who made it a derogatory term that's hardly suprising. I'm not defending it's use - simply stating a fact.

11. Yes - I do indeed realize
he's not English. I must say that if he'd used the other word over here nobody would've noticed. I had to look it up to see to what on earth it referred to. I'm guessing that the majority of the American public had never heard it and thus no concept of its connotation. The amount of publicity it's had may do more harm than good by putting the word into increased usage.

12. you're guessing the majority of the american people ...
aren't familiar with the "N-word."

I think you're wrong on that. That word was not uncommon, and its usage was very clear, when Allen was growing up.

14. Not that one -
the other he used which was apparently a type of monkey. It was that which started the fuss.

16. that wouldn't be the "N-word"
that would be the "M-word."

Related subject, but not the same thing.

Yes, more people probably know the word macaca now than two months ago.
