For years, it has been reactionary dogma that Clinton was a great, big, fat phony. He'd never done anything, never did do anything, and never would do anything. Chris Wallace, too bad for him, believed the story and walked into the interview hoping for a nice hatchet job.

But here's the difference between pro wrestling, which is staged, and real life: Clinton isn't some oafish ne'er-do-well; he was a Rhodes Scholar, and unlike legacy admissions to Yale, that's something you earn. Wallace was ill-prepared for the interview, thinking that all he had to do was his usual bait-and-switch, and he'd so bamboozle Clinton that the hour would be a cakewalk.

Funny things happen on the way to Republican cakewalks, though. You need the willing connivance of your adversary in order for things to go the way you think they're going to go, and Clinton is nobody's fool. By the time Wallace figured that out, and wanted to holler "No mas," Clinton was already in high gear. Wallace wanted to walk away from his questions, but Clinton would have none of it, and handed Wallace his pointy little head on a teeny little platter.

Wallace got just what he deserved, and if Tucker doesn't or can't see that, then he's as big a tool as Wallace is. Hillary should have made him eat his shoes.

They already got rid of all of the excess cost for Rita Cosby by shitcanning her hour-long waste; his show is just him, one asshole, a camera or two, some prerecorded shit from the day's interviews, and a corner of someone else's set. One after another, the talking heads have been stepping up to chronicle the Clinton "meltdown." It usually starts with a "personal impression," followed by an interview with some sort of "expert" in which they analyze the clip like it's the frigging Zapruder film.

God only knows what CNN and Fox are doing with it.

It will be really interesting to see how Olbermann handles this tonight.
