You can read the letter to Hastert here at http://democraticleader.house.gov

Washington D.C House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi,Whip Steny Hoyer,Caucus Chairman James Clyburn and Caucus Vice-Chaiman John Larson sent the following letter to Speaker Hastert today urging him to bring to the floor this week, before the House Adjourns, legislation that addresses key issues facing the American People.

Is this our Issues we want? I as a vet want the House to address the $3 Billion shortage at the VA. And the War in Iraq. Just my two whats yours?

1. Answer to democratic leadership
Ditto to those two plus no to RAPE AND TORTURE of prisoners
(See DailyKos today Zdefenders diary); no indefinite
detention--right to a speedy trial; releasing of documents on
mistreatment of detainees per order of US District Judge Jed
S.Rakoff.) That's just for starters!

2. I saw this letter...
and imemdiately thought it was just political posturing before the midterms, a little something Dems running can take back to their districts -- I am not impressed. If they want to get serious, then talk about Iraq, torture, illegal wiretapping, etc.

I am not saying the issues listed are not important but, I think when the country and constitution is under attack, it feels like rearranging the chairs on Titanic.
