Republicans block investigation into Foley scandal.
"House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) took the House floor last night to demand an investigation into the Foley matter. But Boehner headed her off, calling on the House to refer the matter to the ethics committee, which the House promptly voted unanimously to do.

The news of Foley's resignation overshadowed an afternoon Republican ceremony hailing a military commissions bill, and it gave Democrats sudden hopes of winning the Palm Beach-based 16th District. Many lawmakers think Democrats are on the verge of winning control of the House in November, and an unexpected gain could prove crucial.

At the Capitol Hill signing ceremony for the commissions bill, a GOP campaign priority, reporters asked Hastert only about Foley. "He's done the right thing," Hastert replied. "I've asked John Shimkus , who is head of the Page Board, to look into this issue regarding Congressman Foley. We want to make sure that all of our pages are safe and our page system is safe. None of us are happy about it."

ABC News reported yesterday that it had interviewed Foley, 52, about excerpts of instant messages provided by current and former pages under the age of 18. ABC reported that Foley, under the AOL Instant Messenger screen name Maf54, made repeated references to sexual acts and body parts. Foley's spokesman did not respond to a Washington Post request for comment on the ABC report."

1. Foley should be up on criminal charges.
Diddling minors is still illegal, unless of course you are torturing them. Maybe the bushes authorized this as torture.

3. Foley ought to be tackled and thrown on the ground
Like they do in Dateline's "To Catch a Predator." Then he should be taken to a trailer and interviewed by the local cop, who will want to know details. Then a search of what he has in his car. A pack of Trojans? Booze? Pot? Hey, maybe a penis pump or a prescription for Viagra.

The entire interview should be broadcast to millions on nationwide TV. Foley's mug should be shown to all as that of a sexual predator.

His computers will be seized indefinitely. Kiddie porn on them; other evidence, too.

That's what should happen but what will happen is hearings will be held in secret. Mr. Foley will soon be confessing to a prescription pain addiction or booze (if he hasn't already) and he will blame it on that. He will enter "treatment." Little more will be heard about it.

11. From the article, I'm not sure what she wanted and what happened...
...were any different. I'll admit I don't know much about House procedure, but I'm not sure if Pelosi may have just made a speech rather than calling for a vote, and then Boehner called for a vote.
