8. Tim Mahoney--he's got WES CLARK's endorsement, too!!!! |
|
http://www.timmahoneyforflorida.com/e3/index.phphttp://www.timmahoneyforflorida.com/e3/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=107&Itemid=40Today American families face many difficult challenges at home and abroad. We face continued threats to national security, and we must prepare for a changing global economy that demands that America train our people to compete for the highest paying jobs. Tim Mahoney has the leadership and experience to battle the toughest issues both at home and abroad,” said General Clark.
"I respect General Clark because he knows that in order to win a war, you must have a plan to win the peace. What the Bush Administration lacks is an independent and experienced leader like General Clark that knows how to use both military strategy and diplomacy to win the War on Terror. If General Clark were in charge, we would never be in the mess we are in today in Iraq," said Tim Mahoney.
General Clark continued, “Tim Mahoney is the kind of common-sense entrepreneur that will successfully work across the aisle to develop new and innovative plans make our nation more secure, while creating opportunities for Americans to move ahead in the world economy. Our leaders in Washington have received failing grades on national security, healthcare, and education. Tim Mahoney brings new leadership, vision, and a plan to American values to Washington.
“With a strong commitment to creating jobs, Tim has helped grow dozens of small businesses in Florida and co-founded the Center for Innovative Entrepreneurship, a think tank dedicated to ensuring that America maintains its leadership position in entrepreneurship and business innovation. We need Tim in Washington to continue the fight to create jobs and promote small businesses.
“In voting for Tim Mahoney, Floridians will have an opportunity to turn things around now before it’s too late. To change politics-as-usual, we have to vote for someone besides the usual politicians.”

14. I'm wondering how the General knows him |
|
This was an early endorsement. The only thing I can figure is that Mahoney works with creating "jobs" in the tech sector, and one Wes Clark's jobs is pulling together funds for emerging technologies. Oh well, who knows.
Anyway, this would mean a "D" in congress who hadn't voted for the IWR, which gives them some latitude to speak out. I think we could do much worse than Mahoney. I hope we can win this one.

21. Murtha was getting MORE latitude when he spoke out BECAUSE he had |
|
previously supported the war.
I don't see how the IWR is a factor for a candidate, especially since Gonzales testified under oath some months ago that the IWR never gave them the war powers they wanted the public and Democratic base to believe it gave them at the time.

12. He'll vote the way the whip tells him, that's all we care about |
|
He can prance off the reservation when the vote doesn't matter, but I will bet a good whip will keep him in line when we need the numbers.

Will the next Republican Governor of Florida be Gay?
The Republicans ran two career politicians (Tom Gallagher and Charlie Crist) to replace the term limited Jeb Bush.
The common saying around the Capital City for years is that Gallager is a skirt chaser and that Crist wouldn't know what to do with it if he caught one.
The first part of the saying was vindicated when Gallagher had to admit during the primary to an extramarital affair during a prior marriage, that he had hidden from his current wife. Gallagher did a Jimmy Swaggart and claimed he had changed since then.
Gallagher lost badly to Crist in the primary but not before Gallager dropped a number of hints about Crist's lifestyle. Crist is not married at 50, although he was married once for "six weeks".
With the attention being brought to Florida with the sex scandal of Mark Foley one wonders if attention to Crist will follow? If the conservative vote abandons Crist then he cannot win Florida.

18. Oh, it surely will--once you go beyond "your place" the knives come out |
|
Seek any executive role, any leadership position, and there ya have it. Look at how they went after Clinton when it started to look like he could actually be trouble for Big Bush. Look at how the anointed David Drier suddenly was 'unanointed' for DeLay's job when the mumbling started.
Unless Crist's first name is Jesus and they misspelled his last name, you can bet his sex life is already being chopped to bits, and carefully examined. If there's even a whiff of smoke, someone is sure to fan the flames.

I resent your aspersion on our safest-of-all-cities. Foley was out of here before he learned to walk - well before he learned to bugger. Not our fault.
