5. It's called "compartmentalization" |
|
MSNBC.com ran a story a few days ago from the current issue of Redbook, a first person account of a cheating husband. The most remarkable thing about the guy was his capacity for self deception, his firm belief that his affair with another woman could be kept completely separate from his life with his wife and family. (Guess he'd never heard of diseases)
Last night one of the cable stations ran a chilling set of interviews with the BTK killer, who talked about a compartmentalized part of his personality that did all the killings, had nothing to do with the good family and church man everybody in town knew and liked.
Undoubtedly Foley blamed his behavior on demonic possession or some other nonsense and felt it was compartmentalized away from who he actually is and what else he does in the world.
Guys, it doesn't work like that, never has, never will. Foley's about to find that out.
