To the GOP: A Little Friendly Advice

Let’s not kid ourselves, guys. It’s been pretty rough going for all of you lately: down in the polls, seats thought of as ‘safe’ now in play, Iraq and Afghanistan both in shambles, the NIE leak, Woodward’s new book – and now this Foley thing. Jesus, it’s enough to make you think that maybe God isn’t on your side after all, isn’t it?

Well, let’s not lose our heads. I have some tips for you which, if followed to the letter, might get your party back in the good graces of the voters before it’s too late.

GET RID OF YOUR PEDOPHILES. Yes, all of them, no exceptions. The Fundie crowd hates all gays to begin with. Throw under-aged kids into that mix, and you’re really in trouble.

GET RID OF YOUR CORRUPT POLITICIANS. Again, NO exceptions. Bribe-takers, money-launderers, anyone who is even remotely connected to Abramoff. Otherwise, those Family Values people will stay home in droves come November.

GET RID OF THE ELECTED REPS WHO VOTED AGAINST THEIR CONSTITUENTS’ INTERESTS. I’m talking about a clean sweep here, guys; it’s the ONLY way. Voters will take a lot of crap, but when they’re out of work, out of health care insurance, out of affordable prescription medication, and out of hope – they’re also pretty well out of a reason to see your party in control of anything.

GET RID OF YOUR COLLEAGUES WHOSE VOTES PUT THE COUNTRY INTO DEBT. Especially when that debt is being added to hourly due to spending in Iraq. It’s tough convincing even your staunchest supporters that spending their tax dollars on a war that’s actually making them LESS SAFE than they already were is a good investment. It also doesn’t do much for your ‘Party of Fiscal Responsibility’ image either.

GET RID OF YOUR REPS WHO VOTED FOR TORTURE. And THIS one is a biggie! Word is out that RAPE is now an acceptable ‘interrogation technique’. You know those RW Christians think sex for reproduction purposes between two married adults is something dirty. Just think how squeamish they are about THIS piece of news.

GET RID OF YOUR ASS-KISSING REPS WHO WON'T BACK DOWN WHEN THE PRESIDENT BREAKS THE LAW. You're going to have a hell of a time convincing your supporters that you're TOUGH ON TERRORISM (and let's face it, that's pretty much the ONLY card you have left to play) when you're too much of a wuss to stand up to Vacation Boy whenever he's in town and wants something.


I KNOW THESE ARE SOME PRETTY DRASTIC MEASURES, but it's GOT TO BE DONE!



NOW, HAVE YOU DONE ALL OF THAT? ALL OF IT?

HAVE YOU GOTTEN RID OF EVERYBODY ON THAT LIST? EVERY ONE OF THEM?




GOOD, now let me talk to those of you who are left about the upcoming mid-terms, and what can be done to put your party back on ---

Gays and pedophiles are not the same. Rethugs try to equate the two to further demonize gays but they are two completely different groups. Your grouping them together here only helps add fuel to their fire.

22. I was afraid that would be mis-intepreted ...

... but realized it too late to edit. I was speaking specifically about the Foley situation - because this would have hit the religious right with a lot less impact had it been a case of an older man going after an under-age girl.

The fact that this was, in their minds, a "gay thing", with a MAN going after young MALES, makes a BIG difference to a lot of these people. Unfortunately, they think his homosexuality to be the greater SIN than preying on children.

That was my reason for pointing out that "the Fundie crowd hates all gays to begin with ..."

Apologies to anyone who took that to mean something different. I was meaning to imply how THEIR base is seeing this situation, nothing more.

It's quite interesting how an adult who molests a child of the same gender is used by many to condemn homosexuality, but one who molests a child of the opposite gender is never used to condemn heterosexuality. Such hypocrisy--but then I've come to expect nothing less of the RR or Neocons.

This whole situation would have been played by the GOP very differently if Foley had been doing the SAME THING, but with female pages. He would have been portrayed as an older gentleman with an eye for the 'young ladies'; we would have heard about how some of these young girls look and act older than their years, and maybe THEY were flirting with him, etc.

We now KNOW that they protect their pedophiles - but they can't openly protect someone who is 'gay' without offending their own Fundie base. Once again, their own hypocrisy bites them in the ass - big time!
