Is the Foley story the "October Surprise"? I know techinically it broke
September but I don't see at this point - short of Bush launching an all out war on Iran - how anyone is going to top this in terms of news that will have an impact on the midterm elections. This is 1974 all over again. Democratic wave coming. Surfs up!

2. this scandal still needs to be framed as something more than Foley
right now the news is still just buzzing about Foley's sexual fetish but this was a conspiracy of the republican leadership to coverup potential criminal acts! We got to keep the pressure on before the champagne comes out.

3. Coverup by Republican Leadership is a given. How extensive is the
only question. That is why there is going to be a firestorm over this.

4. It has been. Pelosi and Reid both came out with statements
today condemning the entire repug leadership in the House for their involvement in the cover-up. There's quite a few threads around DU on their statements.
