1. Here's a thought
Maybe Foley is a piece of shit pedophile that got caught. Maybe there was no great conspiracy except possibly to cover it up. Maybe rove had nothing at all to do with it. Just maybe this is a possibility.

3. agreed. No way this benefits the republicans.

5. I agree: the coverup is the story, not the predator
If this were just about a single Congressman writing salacious e-mails to a teenager, then the matter is dead. He resigned and the criminal investigations are underway. That is as it should be.

The fact that the Republican leadership knew about this and kept putting this man in positions of responsibility and gave him funds to run for re-election that is disturbing.

6. Be careful what you wish for

This might make Rove and his team desperate. They may decide to speed up their plans to attack Iran or stage an attack on the U.S.

7. I suspect that one reason for the timing of this
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 06:27 PM by realpolitik
is because
1. Rove/Abramoff
2. The revolt of the generals
3. Woodward's grand betrayal of the WH.

It would have came out sooner or later before the election, anyway.

And Congress just did all it will ever have to in covering Dubya's ass regarding executive power and priviledge. They are expendable, and see, no one is talking about Karl and Abramoff sittin in a tree...McCain caving on torture, or Dubya weeping on election night and hugging Rummy like a security blanket.

In the Grand Bush Family tradition of gamesmanship,
the house was not close enough to a chair when Karl lifted the needle off the phonograph.

The Bushes *love* to fuck their enemies. But the only thing they enjoy more than that is fucking their friends. Sorry Mark, Dennis. You were insufficiently loyal.

9. The cover up mess exposes an entire new layer in the corruption.
The culture of corruption relies on secrets and blackmail.
