I can't wait to hear them try to defend a pervert in their midst.

C'mon Rush, Hannity, Boortzzzzzz, BlowReilly, let's hear it.

And they will blame George Soros.

They will call us traitors.

Heh.

3. Guaranteed: They will roll out the old "double-standard" deflection.
They will babble about the different treatment of Foley versus Barney Frank and Gary Studds. Count on it. When these chumps have nothing else, they cloud out the current controversy with partisan cases from history, whether they are relevant or not.

4. You can pretty much count on these gems:
Foley is innocent until proven guilty.

The fact that he resigned doesn't mean he's admitting to anything untoward.

The poor guy was probably set up by the Dems, so let's wait until all the facts are in.

He's just a guy who's friendly with kids -- now the left are trying to crucify him for just being friendly.

The word 'alleged' will be used at least three times in every sentence.

AND THE BIGGIE:

"HOW IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT CLINTON DID? MONICA WAS A MERE CHILD WHEN HE FORCED HIMSELF ON HER!!!!"

5. They is Stuck
They won't defend Foley - rather, they'll go after the Democrats for insinuating that the other rethugs knew and covered it up, and they'll try to equate Barney Frank's and Slick Willie's sexcapedes with Foley's pedophilia.

9. Just like they handled Abu Ghraib
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 10:46 PM by BattyDem

They will complain about the fact that it was made public while downplaying how terrible Foley's actions were. (Remember when Abu Ghraib was compared to a college fraternity prank?)

They have no problem with the offense, but they're always outraged when the offense becomes public knowledge.

10. Junkie Limbaugh: "He was just fine when he went to Dominican Republic
with me and the guys!"

You wait; Junkie Limbaugh will start out by saying, "Lissen, folks, I KNOW Mark Foley, and personally, he's a great guy!"

The message is, of course, "You see, you little nobodies out there, I am important because I have a fairly large amount of money; you little nobodies don't understand, but trust me. Obviously I'm smarter than you, because I have more money than you... so just trust that I know what I'm talkin' about when I tell you Mark Foley is just a fine man who is dedicated to serving missing or exploited children, and all this stuff about him is just a bunch of LIB'RALS and the DRIVE BY MEDIA trying to bring down a good man because they're JEALOUS of how perfect he is!"

This fuckhead junkie--Limbaugh, that is--grew up in a middle class home, just like so many of us here. He had educated people in the family (though he was unable to share that status, being unable to finish more than a semester or two of college); many of us had educated people in the family. He had folks who made a good living; many of us had folks who made a good living. He had the indulgent grandparents; many of us had the indulgent grandparents.

Yet Junkie Limbaugh pretends he's our superior because he now has a lot of money--which he got from YEARS or DECADES of accepting wingnut-welfare in return for obligingly spreading their propaganda. Yet Junkie Limbaugh is in reality not even as "good" as the poorest, or most unfortunate, or screwed-uppest, or least-talented, of us peons--because HE threw away what he had in favor of HILLBILLY HEROIN.

23. Hmmm, found this in trying to answer my own question.
Playing the patriotism card

The new wave of attacks on Tom Daschle
By Bryan Keefer (bryan@spinsanity.org)
November 20, 2002

Since he became Majority Leader, Senator Tom Daschle, D-S.D., has been the subject of repeated vicious attacks, particularly since Sept. 11. But when Daschle raised questions about the success of the war on terrorism last week, Rep. Mark Foley, R-FL, and radio host Rush Limbaugh took the attacks on him to a new low, explicitly questioning Daschle's motivations and branding him as unpatriotic.

11. Seriously? I think they'll drag the ACLU into it and...
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 10:30 PM by LoZoccolo
...try to associate the Dems with them. The ACLU has taken some controversial opinions like opposing sex offender registries, and they'll try to establish that we've done more to promote sex offenses than they have. I also remember they went after the judge who dismissed the defamation case that Bill O'Reilly tried to bring against Al Franken, and there was something about letting a sex offender go on a technicality in their argument; it was a Clinton-appointed judge, so we might end up hearing about him.

There are some times when the right-wing gets caught and they don't try to defend their own guy, but try to neutralize the battle to deny us a win. Some guy in the documentary Outfoxed was saying this; even if they don't win, they try to "muddy" the debate and deny us one. They are very good at trying to salvage a bad situation rather than trying to come out perfect and failing.

16. They will blame the victim
You will hear things like "some gay kid was baiting the Congressman", or "the age of consent in D.C. is 16 so he clearly welcomed the advances", or "how do we know the boy didn't just create cleverly forged e-mails"?

If desperate enough, they could say Foley resigned to spare a lying kid further embarrassment.
