When did FOX'S Shepard Smith start sounding like a liberal?
I think it was during Katrina. Fox has become almost unrecognizable over the last week or so, i've noticed.

Watch Shep smack down Bill Kristol and Sean Hannity here-

1. when Fox decided there was ad money to be had
That's probably all there is to it. If being liberal is profitable, the cable news channels will be liberal.

2. Katrina changed him. I saw it happen. Wish it was on Youtube or something.
He was on the bridge where the evacuees were being prevented from crossing and he was shocked.

Shocked that no help came, shocked that no water came, shocked that they couldn't get out.

I think it rockedhim big time. He was in tears. He saw people die. That will change you...just my opinion.

10. I'm surprised Fox didn't fire him.
I remember he was reporting truthfully on the mess down there, and one of the blowhard anchors sitting in the studio was trying to guide his spin and get him to start to backtrack and cover and spit out the administration line. Shep wouldn't have any of it. He just basically said, "No, I'm down here, I'm seeing this with my own eyes." Like I said, I'm surprised he's still on Fox.

31. I watched his coverage of Katrina, and I agree, it changed him
He may have never seen large-scale suffering up close and in his own country before that. And really, most americans under 50 really haven't seen anything like that in our own country before.

9. Fox is in trouble.....
They've been slipping badly, and I think the message has gone out from Roger Ailes that they need to attract a more diverse audience. I keep hearing about the threat of a "shake-up" at Fox. I think they see a bump in their numbers when liberals are on, and I don't mean Alan Colmes.

12. He doesn't care anymore
what the bosses think. Shepard saw what Bushco. is all about during Hurricane Katrina, when they let people die out of arrogance & political spite. And here they are again, letting troops in Iraq uselessly die to benefit Bush politically. He knows that Bushco cares about Bushco. Period.

Kristol says it over and over, they are dieing for me, we need to send more, even if it is a futile mission because I say so.

28. He isn't becoming a liberal
He is being more outspoken in criticizing the Bush administration and the GOP government. he's to be applauded for that. However, that doesn't mean he is morphing into a liberal. I only mention this as a cautionary note, because of our tendency here to create heroes too hastily.

In that interview he's criticizing Bush for not being MORE of a hawk in Iraq. Again, it's good that he is calling the GOP our for being political rather than doing anything to fix a failed policy and desperate situation in Iraq. But he is advocating for a more aggressive stance.

His outrage at Katrina was more of a reaction of outrage at what was obviously a lack of fundamental human decency and official concern there. It wasn't ideological.
