The wrath of Bill O'reilly: Tonight’s Talking Points Memo (maybe)
Edited on Mon Oct-02-06 12:33 PM by landonb16
A no-spin rule is that you don't justify bad behavior by pointing to other bad behavior. That is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points" Memo.

This weekend we witnessed the spin of the republican right. Tony Snow, Ann Coulter, Brit Hume all pointed to past wrongs of Rep. Barney Frank and Gerry Studds, who both had inappropriate interactions with pages, to somehow minimize the actions of Ex-Rep Foley. Their mission was to associate Foley’s behavior with past more extreme inappropriate sexual behavior with teens. However, here at ‘Talking Points,’ we do not have different levels for child predators; we do not weight ones actions against the actions of other child predator threats. There is no multi color child threat level in America as the republicans would like you to believe. There is only one level, awful.

For far too long, we in America have cut child predators far too much slack. The Republican Party’s shameless behavior this weekend lengthens this slack. Instead of denouncing they justified. Instead of protecting our children they protected their own (for 5 years). Instead of being strong on child predators they appointed Foley to the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. It’s awful, just awful. And that's "The Memo."

(Portions of this talking points memo have been parts of past talking points memos)

1. Yikes! Even O'Really is Abandoning Ship
That was actually an excellent editorial - although I know for a fact that O'Really is a lying nutjob. I suppose that even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

2. Don't forget about Dan Crane (R-Ill.), who resigned after an affair with
an underaged female page was discovered in 1980:

9. He is just gay - not into underage boys.
He had a younger man (apparently he had formerly or was currently providing escort services) living in his house in DC. Repugs made a big deal out of it.

Repugs don't know the difference between consensual sex between adults and power positioning of predators.

Actually, it became clear during the Clinton impeachment process that Repugs are unable to understand consensual sex (they have never had it) and power driven/purchased sex. Sex to them is dirty and wrong and no woman would want to have it unless you paid for it one way or another through marriage contract or dollars. In other words, none of them have ever made love - they have just had sex.

10. On the point that Rs don't understand consensual sex, a caller to
the Stephanie Miller show pointed out that most Republican males cry after sex ... mace, you know ...

7. O'Reilly just can't help himself, he's got to LIE, LIE, LIE
Frank was reprimanded for FIXING PARKING TICKETS for his roommate. He didn't know his roommate was using the phone for a call boy connection.

He never approached pages, much less had inappropriate relationships with them.

Studds was reprimanded for an inappropriate relationship with a page. The page didn't blow the whistle and was reluctant to testify.

He's still blaming Democrats for creating some sort of libertine atmosphere.
